		El Real Sitio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial es un gran complejo (palacio, monasterio, museo y biblioteca) que se encuentra en San Lorenzo de El Escorial, municipio situado a 45 km al noroeste de Madrid, en la Comunidad de Madrid (España).
		Las estatuas de David y Salomón, flanquean la entrada a la iglesia como recuerdo a ese origen y mostrando el paralelismo con el guerrero Carlos V y el prudente Felipe II.
		Encargada al arquitecto Juan Bautista de Toledo, que no pudo finalizarla al morir en 1567, pasando la dirección de la misma a Juan de Herrera, discípulo del anterior, quien la llevó a término en 1584, con tanto acierto que su obra dió origen a la denominada en arquitectura escuela herreriana.
