SAN MARCOS – The city's Fire Department continues to improve its service, according to a national fire-protection rating organization, which means businesses can expect to pay less for insurance.
Webb said the department went from a 4 rating to a 3 in 2000, but requested a re-evaluation in June, primarily because of major improvements and expansion of services the department has made in recent years.
He said San Marcos becomes the fifth city in the county to receive an ISO 2 rating, joining El Cajon, Escondido, La Mesa and Santee.
