While the State Park authorities have encouraged swimmers to be vigilant, there has been no move to close down any Orange County beaches to surfers.
Let me stress, that at San Onofre, we aren't going to be surfing at some deserted section of the Coast -- this past weekend, there were an estimated 2,500 people at San Onofre with several hundred surfers at any time in the water.
What made the sighting notable at San Onofre was not the threat posed by those sharks, but rather the rarity of seeing any sharks in those waters at all.
