A report reaching the regional police command said Pablo was shot to death by the two unidentified gunmen who used a.45 caliber pistol, based on the empty shells recovered at the crime scene.
Pablo, who died on the spot, sustained a lone gunshot wound, with the bullet entering his nape and exiting from his forehead.

PAGADIAN CITY --Unconfirmed number of residents in Tikala island village in San Pablo town, Zamboanga del Sur, have already fled their homes for fear of a clan war that may erupt soon following the ambush-slaying of of a town vice mayor and five of his bodyguards.
Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Director Karib S. Muammil said the root cause of the ambush is clan war, existing between the Maulana and Lao families.
Municipal Social Welfare and Dedevelopment Officer Susanelle Gumera said Tikala residents, with a population of 713, and who are mostly women and children, evacuated to the town of San Pablo and nearby villages in Buton, Bubual, Tandubuay, and Marcos Village, all of San Pablo town.
