San Pedro la Laguna is a small community on the shores of Lake Atitlán in Guatemala.
The San Pedro Women’s Health Collective is funded through a Coffee Kids microcredit program, which is also enabling the families of San Pedro to better provide for their children.
The San Pedro project will continue to be a tremendous source of community benefit providing health care, education, and economic stability for years to come.

San Pedro is a municipality of the province of Laguna in the Philippines and it is named after the Patron Saint, San Pedro Apostol.
San Pedro became a town on January 18, 1725, when the Spanish King, Charles II, decreed that the town, formerly known as "tabuko", be a separate town from "Kabullaw", now known as Cabuyao.
This struggle took almost 423 years of unsuccessful resistance to Colegio de San Jose, and in 1938, the government bought the homesites of the San Pedro Tunasan Hacienda from the Colegio for re-sale to its tenants.

Most travel on the lake is by motor launch, and the village of San Pedro la Laguna is quiet and friendly, not a tourist nightmare like Panajachel on the other side of the lake (called "Gringotenango" locally).
On Saturday morning in San Pedro I was up before dawn and took a series of pictures in the wonderful light.
I spent the rest of the day there, visiting the cathedral, a shrine to Maximón (a cross between a Mayan deity and a Catholic saint), and talking with the children of the town.
