Sancho VII of Navarre was king of Navarre from 1194 to 1234, surnamed "the Strong" ("Sancho el Fuerte" in Spanish, "Santxo Azkarra" in Basque).
As a young man Sancho is rumoured to have been the homosexual lover of the future king Richard I of England, who later married his sister Berengaria, who may have resembled him.
Sancho went into retirement ("el Encerrado") at some point, when his youngest sister Blanca took administration of the kingdom (see note in Kings of Navarre family tree) and died in 1229.

Still, at the death of Sancho, in 1035, the diferent realms fell in the hands of his four sons: García (Gartzia), the elder, inherited Pamplona; Fernando, the second, Castile; Ramiro got Aragon and Gonzalo got Sobrarbe and Ribagorza (not named in the map, east of Aragon).
The heir of García, Sancho IV, was assasinated by his brothers, giving oportunity for the intervention of Castile and Aragon to divide the Pamplonese territory among them.
As mentioned above, at the death of Sancho VII the Strong in 1234, Jaime of Aragon claimed the throne of Navarre but was rejected by the people and nobility.
