	Kanon’s Sanctuary
		The second full album was released at the end of 2006 in December when preparations were in motion for her big scene at MIDEM 2007.
		The album version of “kokoro” is reminiscent of her 3rd single with themes based on Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No.8 ＜Pathetique＞.
		She’s been rather reserved in her singing throughout this whole album, almost as if everything is supposed to build up to this one track at the end of the album where the climax still remains.

		Mahn speaks of things like wanting to find "sanctuary in God's arms" and having a desire to "purge these demons from my soul," but he isn't preachy about it, he doesn't sound like he's trying to cram a religious agenda down anyone's throat, but is, instead, contemplating and analyzing his own place in the world.

		My first encounter with Sanctuary was a music video on MTV's Headbangers Ball in the early nineties where I was fascinated by their incredibly long hair...
		Musically the band has their own sound and when I first listened to the album it was unlike anything I had ever heard before (and it still is).
		The bass playing is excellent through the whole album but this is one song where it really stands out and adds to the song's sense of urgency.

		In what is currently a highly regimented and commercially driven music biz "My Sanctuary", a collection by Autamata, represents a quaint rarity-it's a labour of love, music made for fun rather than figures, with melodies aimed at the mind rather than the moolah.
		The album's publicity blurb cites Brian Wilson and Orbital as influences-sure enough, the skittish "Jive County" sounds like Wilson put through a techno blender while "fragments", the album's opener, is a happy, almost jazzy take on Orbital's "The Box".
		McHugh occasionally over-reaches - "Little green men" is Autechre for slow learners, while the laughably portentous "to be a robot", a spoken piece, falls firmly into the "seemed like a good idea at the time" bag.

		While it may seem like Sanctuary’s using the repetition to pad the bonus discs out, however, there’s actually quite a bit of other stuff to savor here—not the least of which are the remasters of the original albums themselves.
		The performances, however, are a little off—or at least, less intense than the previous album, rendering very good an album that could have been great.

		The fact that we've had to wait until 2006 for his third album shows that this consummate songsmith isn't one of these chaps who pens songs at the drop of a hat but rather he is a thoughtfully passionate man of God who writes simply yet profoundly.
		Two of the songs on this set, the opener "Sanctuary" and the haunting "Wash Them Away" have both scaled the dizzy heights of the Cross Rhythms playlist and deservingly so.
