Sándor Kocsis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sándor Kocsis (born September 21, 1929 in Budapest; died July 22, 1979) was a Hungarian football striker, who ranks fourth all-time with 75 international goals (in only 68 caps).
Amazingly, he is not the top scorer for Hungary, as Ferenc Puskás scored 84.
Kocsis' international career spanned from 1948 to 1956.

Classics Today.com - Your Online Guide to Classical Music
Kocsis delivers a thrilling account: he's particularly good at making each multi-ethnic folk-inspired episode sound genuinely idiomatic, particularly where raw, primitive effects are employed, and he has the technique and stamina needed to traverse vast dynamic extremes, too.
Kocsis gives a barnstorming account of this astonishing piece of Bartók juvenilia but leaves you in no doubt that the first version is the best.
Kocsis doesn't always create the spine-chilling intensity and atmosphere that these slower sections should afford, but since Sándor's version is presently unavailable this is more than satisfactory, and the short pieces that complete this issue are also very well done.

The excellent Kocsis recordings on Philips are spread over three discs—an unnecessary and infuriating extravagance, for which the inclusion of the early Rhapsody and Scherzo offers some consolation.
Considering that he is now in his late-seventies Sandor copes remarkably well, and I must stress that the results are never embarrassing; but there is too much rhythmically vague, colourless and under-articulated playing to allow his musical intentions to come through, and his tone generally lacks depth and richness.
Incidentally, the Philips note for Kocsis contradicts Sandor's assertion that there is no recording of Bartok himself in the concertos.

BigSoccer Boards - Gerd(The Bomber) Müller..the greatest goalscorer of all time THREAD
I think you've misunderstood me - I wasn't claiming Kocsis to be the better striker (Muller is one of my favourite players), I was just making a point that arguably the two greatest international goalscorers suffered from serious problems in their lives.
Had Kocsis, Puskas and Czibor not defected to the west after the revolution of 1956 then we may not be having this discussion - Kocsis was 27 and reaching his peak (he would at a conservative estimate, injuries not withstanding, have scored at least 100 international goals).
Kocsis' and Muller's lack of recognition can perhaps be explained by more illustrius team-mates (Puskas and Beckenbauer) but Nordahl seems to have been forgotten in time almost completely without any real justification.
