First elected in 1995, Sandra Pupatello has had a distinguished record of service to her community and to the province.
After the 2003 provincial election, Sandra Pupatello was appointed to Cabinet and currently serves as the Minister of Community and Social Services, and the Minister responsible for Women's Issues.
Pupatello served as the general manager of the Rotary Club of Windsor and earlier as the executive director of the Essex County Kidney Foundation of Canada.

Pupatello called on Health Minister Tony Clement to halt planned closure in June 2003 of the stomach stapling surgery program of Dr. Michael Grace, who has focused on the most severely obese patients.
Grace's program is one of the few in Ontario that does so-called stomach stapling and is the only one operating on the most high-risk, severely obese patients.
Davies disputes a suggestion by Pupatello that the $170,000 cost is small within an overall budget of several hundred million dollars.

Pupatello’s assistant told me she’s well aware of the issues, and perhaps that’s the case.
She was quoted as saying (in that OCAP story that caused such a stir) that “OCAP invariably cause a backlash against themselves and the very people they want to help,” pretty much implying that cutting the special diet allowance was harmful to the people who use it.
Even more perplexing is the fact that Pupatello would take time out of her busy schedule to bash OCAP, but not meet with the Health Care workers.

Community and Social Services Minister Sandra Pupatello said Thursday the closing of the remaining three government-run institutions will complete a plan put in place in the late '80s to move developmentally disabled adults into a more flexible community setting.
As part of the plan, the government will invest up to $110 million over the next four years to put community supports in place for residents of the institutions.
