Matheson has worked for HEHF for about 8 1/2 years, with most of that time as president and chief executive officer.
The private, nonprofit corporation holds the smallest of the four main Hanford contracts and, with Matheson at the helm, consistently won excellent and outstanding ratings from the Department of Energy.

Matheson said she is running because she thinks the district is "facing very serious challenges" in areas such as economy, jobs, education, security and the cost of health care.
Matheson, who has never run for a partisan office, and whose experience in elected posts comes from her time at the hospital board, declined to compare herself to Craig Mason or Richard Wright, the other two Democratic candidates who hope to win the primaries in September, and seek to unseat the Pasco congressman.
Matheson said there was a need to address the issues for the people of the district, and that she did not think partisan approaches are in their best interest.

deseretnews.com | Matheson is keeping his head down
From Matheson's sprawling 2nd District of today — which includes the eastern part of Salt Lake County, counties to the east, south and southeast — Matheson would get a new 2nd District that includes the northern half of Salt Lake County, including all of Salt Lake City, and Summit and Morgan counties.
For four straight elections now, Matheson's GOP opponents' main theme is that 2nd District voters — especially Republicans — must not vote for Matheson, because he'll just vote for Democratic leaders and the national Democratic agenda.
Secretly, Matheson and his key supporters may be quietly rubbing their hands together in joy over the prospect of Matheson getting a new 2nd District containing so many Democrats.

With her partisans already on board and so few “undecideds” there aren’t a lot of places for her to go, especially given the fact that you are beating her by an almost 2:1 margin among Independents and it’s unlikely Republicans will bite on her message.
