 History of the Sangerville Public Library
The eleven Sangerville women who came together to form a Women's Club on the twenty- seventh of February of 1922 were instrumental in both sowing and nurturing the seeds for what is known today as the Sangerville Public Library.
Although the Sangerville Public Library Association became a separate entity, records show that many of the women who were members of the Women's Club of Sangerville were also members of the Association.
She was an exceptional school teacher and a wise business woman, as well as a Trustee and Secretary of the Sangerville Library Association and a charter member and President of the Sangerville Women's Club.

 SAD4 News - SAD #4 Board of Director's Long Range Plan
The cost analysis the superintendent prepared shows that if the three towns voted to keep open their schools and support them outside SAD 4, a substantial amount of additional tax dollars would have to be raised.
Susan McAvoy of Sangerville was the only board member to vote against all aspects of the plan.
Sangerville residents pointed out that the Abbie Fowler School had a privately funded music and art program other schools in the district did not have.

 History of Sangerville, Maine
Sangerville is situated midway of the southern border of Piscataquis County, adjacent to Dover on the west.
Carleton and Dudley commenced operations where Sangerville village now stands in 1812 or 1813, building there a saw-mill and a grist-mill; and in 1816 Carleton started a carding machine, the first in the Piscataquis valley.
The township was first called Amestown, after the earliest settler, but in 1814 it was incorporated as Sangerville, in honor of the principal proprietor.

She is survived by two daughters and son-in-laws, Debbie Higgins Diehl and James Diehl of Hampden, Lisa Higgins Fortier and Robert Fortier of Sangerville; two very special grandchildren whom she adored, Patrick Ivan Diehl and Ian Robert Fortier; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A referendum will be conducted in each of the three towns on Nov. 6, when residents will decide whether or not to keep their small schools open despite the vote by SAD 4 directors to close the schools.
If Sangerville residents vote to keep the Abbie Fowler School open for the 2001-2002 school year, residents will not only pay the local assessment but also $112,000, a figure determined by comparing the allowable operating costs with the costs to the district if the school were closed.
If Sangerville residents vote to close the school, kindergarten and first-grade pupils will be educated with other district children at the McKusick School in Parkman and second- and third-grade pupils will attend the Guilford Primary School.

SANGERVILLE - Friends and neighbors are rallying to help a local woman and her two children who narrowly escaped a fast-moving fire early Saturday morning.
Knowlton said that while she had started no fire in the wood stove that night, the fire could have ignited on its own from some dry paper and some burned-out matches that she had discarded in the stove on Friday.
The house was owned by Knowlton's parents, Ken and Carol Curtis of Sangerville, and was insured.

The goal of improving the water quality of the Piscataquis River is closer to reality with the completion of the pollution control facilities designed by Wright-Pierce for the Towns of Guilford and Sangerville.
Prior to the construction of the new sewer system and treatment facility, untreated municipal and industrial wastewater from the villages of Guilford and Sangerville was discharged into the Piscataquis River creating public health concerns.
Of particular concern was the adverse effect that these raw sewage discharges were having on the river's fish population and on downstream drinking water supplies.
