The tarsiers are the members of the Tarsius genus of prosimian primates, monotypic in the Tarsiidae family and Tarsiiformes infraorder.
Evidence for the position of Tarsier in the primate tree came for example from retrotransposon presence/absence data.
Two tarsiers, overlayed with animations of human mouths and eyes, appear in Joel Veitch's advertisements for Quizno's subs, dubbed the Spongmonkeys.

We have so far seen just a few mammals here on Sangihe (a squirrel and two species of bats), we have got hope to see mammals such cuscus, tarsier and giant rats which we heard from a bounch of brittish guys was quite easy to spot in the mountain areas.

About the Sangihe white-eye I was very happy, Iam intrested in Indonesian white-eyes so it was a happy suprise as I had heard that it was even more difficult to see than the paradise-flycatcher.

A late afternoon vigil for Spectral Tarsier was rewarded by close studies of this engaging tiny primate, followed by a 2 hour drive back to Manado for the next leg of the trip – the expedition to Sangihe.

At dusk we were led to a huge strangling fig tree with a hollow interior where we met, at point-blank range, the Tarsier monkey.
The Tarsier is terminally cute, strongly reminiscent of the friendly version of the little monsters in the movie "Gremlin." For me it was very much worth the two-hour drive and steamy jungle trek to see them face-to-face.

The list of Sulawesi endemic mammals includes flagship species such as the anoa (Bubalus depressicornis, EN) – a dwarf buffalo – and babirusa (Babyrousa babyrussa, VU), an enigmatic pig with long, recurved upper tusks that penetrate through the skin of the upper lip.
In addition, the primates of Sulawesi are all important flagship species, with at least seven species of macaques (Macaca spp.) unique to the island and at least five species of tarsier (Tarsius spp.).
There are 650 bird species in Wallacea, of which 265 species are endemic, again very high numbers given the land area of the region.
