With regard to serious cases, sources at the Sanguem primary health centre informed that due to lack of facilities at the centre, after providing first aid, all surgical cases are directed to the government hospitals in Margao or Bambolim.
One of the villagers informed that the Sanguem PHC building has been recently painted but alleged that there have been no changes as far as upgradation of facilities at the centre and attitude of the medical fraternity towards the patients was concerned.

Just to enquire the reason for the blockage of road, when they approached them, they found that a man was over the side of the bridge being held by those two people just barely by his hands and were unable to lift him over.

PANJIM, NOV 18 -- The Congress Party in Goa has extended its wholehearted support to the people of Sanguem in their demand to the state government for withdrawal of licenses granted to five sponge iron units to be set up in this constituency.
Addressing reporters today, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Luizinho Faleiro said that the residents of Sanguem were irked over the approval granted for setting up of power guzzling units in Sanguem which they apprehend will damage the environment and pollute the area.
He said, "The Goa Judeos have resorted to outright loot and plunder by allowing these six units in the state." Mr Faleiro pointed out that the sponge iron units are highly polluting units and far worse polluting than the Meta Strips Industries over which much hue and cry had been raised.

Almost every family in the remote Wadem village in Sanguem, which undertakes sugarcane cultivation and accounts for about 50 per cent of the cane cultivation, are sore over the conditions imposed by the factory.
VOTERS LIST: Sanguem Mamlatdar Agnelo Fernandes has urged voters left out from the Sanguem and Sanvordem constituency rolls to get their names enrolled during the summary revision, presently underway at polling booths here.

Parrikar told presspersons that the tutors of desecration expected a severe backlash, disturbing the long-lasting communal amity in the State.

PANJIM, JULY 20 -- Elections to eleven municipal councils are likely to be held in mid-October this year while by-elections to fill vacancies in 17 wards of various village panchayats in the State, will be held on August 21.
The municipalities which will have general elections to elect new councils are Pernem, Mapusa, Valpoi, Bicholim, Sanguem, Quepem, Margao, Mormugao, Canacona, Cuncolim and Curchorem-Cacora.
The five-year term of these municipal councils expire on October 23 this year, the Goa State Election Commissioner P M Borkar said here.
