Four Shankaracharyas are planning to announce their own `sant sansad' ahead of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad's `dharam sansad' scheduled to start on January 19 at the Kumbh Mela in Allahabad.
Efforts were being made to ensure the participation of all the four Shankaracharyas in the `sant sansad' and the date is to be fixed to suit their convenience.
They are also angry that by calling their show a `dharam sansad' the VHP was trying to hijack the platform that should belong to the Shankaracharyas and the recognised and acknowledged leaders of the Hindu faith.

AHWA (DANGS): The "Dharam Sansad" at the Shabri Kumbh on Sunday adopted a resolution demanding that the Centre enact "strict laws" to ban religious conversions and deny reservation benefits to converted tribals.
The `Sansad' saw a threat to the nation's security and culture in the "increasing growth rate" of Christians and Muslims compared to Hindus and the "massive" Islamisation of the population in border States such as Assam, Manipur, Sikkim and Tripura and Christanisation in Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
Among those who attended the "Dharam Sansad" were Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief K.S. Sudarshan, Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Pravin Togadia and a large number of sadhus and sants from different parts of the country.

“At the end of October 92 itself they (Sants) unilaterally conducted the meeting of the Dharam Sansad and unilaterally again fixed the Kar Seva for December 6, 1992,” Rao told the Liberhan Commission, probing the sequence of events leading to the demolition of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya.
As a result of the unilateral decision taken by the Dharam Sansad, the negotiations broke, the former Prime Minister said.
