The Greek writers relate that the father of Sandrocottus was a man of low origin, being the son of a barber, whom the queen had married after putting her husband the king to death.
Not only does the great resemblance of name point to an identity of the two, but the circumstances related by the Sanscrit writers respecting the history of Chandragupta bear so great a similarity to those recorded by the Greek authors respecting Sandrocottus, that it is impossible to doubt that they are the same person.
The expedition of Malayaketu may perhaps be the same as that of Seleucus, who probably availed himself of the distracted state of the kingdom for the purpose of extending the Greek dominions in India.

But the pure rustic dialect as well as that of the poets is altogether different from this colloquial language; in the pure dialect most of those Sanscrit words that had harsh sounds are softened till they are as smooth and melodious as pure Telugu.

Greek Gods - The Sanskrit Connection
In the Sanscrit language the myths common to the Aryan nations are presented in, perhaps, their simplest form.
Greek, Latin, Sanscrit, etc., are but modifications of a primitive Aryan language that was spoken by the early "Aryans" before they branched away from their original home in Central Asia, to form new nationalities in India, Greece, Northern Europe, Central Europe, etc.
The Sanscrit language is thus not the mother, but the elder sister of Greek and the kindred tongues: and Sanscrit or Hindoo mythology is, in like manner, only the elder sister of the other Aryan mythologies.

The Buddhist religion having been proved to have been universally disseminated, the ancient language on which the Sanscrit was founded, for there can be little doubt that it would in some degree be founded on the vernacular language of its builders, must have been in use by the Buddhists before the division of the religions.
I think, to go no farther, the fact that the names of the ancient sixteen letters of the Jews and Celts had originally meanings, and the same meanings, and that the names of the letters of no other language had meanings, is nearly sufficient to prove their priority to all others.
If the Sanscrit be the same as the Greek, and the Greek be the same as the Hebrew, the Sanscrit must be the same as the Hebrew.

Northvegr - Popular Tales From the Norse
We are happy to be able to state here that the eminent Sanscrit scholar, Professor Benfey of Göttingen, is now publishing a German translation of the Pantcha-Tantra, which will be accompanied by translations of numerous compositions of the same kind, drawn from unpublished Sanscrit works, and from the legends current amongst the Mongolian tribes.
They are on the eve of publication by M. Stanislas Julien, the first of Chinese scholars; and from the information on the matter which Professor Max Müller has kindly furnished to the translator, it appears that they passed with Buddhism from India into China.
Of those works, two hundred were translations from the Sanscrit made by Buddhist monks, and it is from eleven of these that M. Julien has translated his Chinese Fables.
