Sansert (methysergide) is not a nice drug, and since your doctors are from one of the top headache treatment centers, they most likely have an awfully good reason to discontinue this--
Methysergide should be used primarily when a patient does not respond to other types of treatment.

Since then, I've tried Sansert, which prevented headaches during the first two clusters, but seemed to diminish in efficacy after that.
Then a neurologist who specialized in headaches put me on Isoptin (Verapamil), a calcium channel blocker, which worked great for the first cluster, and not as great the next couple of times.
I took an Isoptin pill once a day, every day, for over a year, and I only got off it after the last cluster, when I realized that staying on it everyday did not prevent this last cluster.
