In Santa Fe County, there were limitations in using the ED log as a means of identifying suicide attempts: only those persons who sought care at the hospital, whose diagnosis fit the case definition, and who provided a home telephone number could be identified.

Although Santa Fe’s was shut down recently, Southwest C.A.R.E. Center, the HIV/AIDS clinic in Santa Fe that serves seven counties in Northern New Mexico, recently decided to start the speaker’s bureau again with its own money.
New Mexico’s rates of HIV differ slightly from the national trend, which has seen the highest increase of infection rates among young, minority, heterosexual women.
