		A September 2002 publication by the Colombian Ombudsman’s Office (Defensoría del Pueblo) reported that antipersonnel mines had been laid around an Army base located on Inarwa hill (also known as Aguacil), a site sacred to the Arhuaco indigenous peoples, in Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in northern Colombia on the Caribbean coast.
		The mine incidents continued in 2004; for instance, on 18 January, two soldiers of the 12th Army Brigade were injured by antipersonnel mines allegedly laid by the 15th Front of the FARC in La Montañita village.

		Between the recommended stop 2 and 1 (just SE 2) on site/route 10 ("Santa Marta de Magasca West to Cáceres" in [9 ]) we parked the car close to some nice-looking Dehesa for a siesta (at least part of the family wanted this!).

		In this study, we have investigated several active volcanic areas (Baiktu-san (China-Korea border), Cerro Caquella (Bolivia), and Halla-san (South Korea)) using RADARSAT and JERS-1 SAR data for their geological characteristics and for their application criteria in view of natural hazard monitoring.
		In the Cerro Caquella region, which is a remote barren Andean range, a detailed DEM could be extracted to investigate morphological changes associated with active volcanic activities, in addition to correlation of the DEM with respect to several other geological and geophysical data collected over the study area.
		Several sets of JERS-1 SAR and RADARSAT data are acquired for this study with the objectives of investigating the surface geology of Baiktu-san and Halla-san volcanoes and the surrounding area to delineate consistent geological and volcanic characteristics.
