Sarah Records - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sarah Records was a UK independent record label, best known for its recordings of twee pop.
The label was formed in Bristol, in 1987 by Clare Wadd and her then boyfriend Matt Haynes.
The aesthetic of Sarah Records was grounded in the C86 jangly indie-pop sensibility, though some releases flirted with higher production values.

The Field Mice - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Over a three year career the band were often dogged with the reputation of having a post C86 indiepop or generic Sarah Records sound despite producing tracks with numerous styles and influences.
Many of the group's recordings, notably "Triangle" and their epic seven-minute swan song, "Missing the Moon", displayed a strong influence from the popular dance music of the time.
Most of the group's records were produced by Ian Catt, who later went on to perfect the pop dance sound of "Missing The Moon" with Saint Etienne and many other British bands of the early to mid 1990s.

Everyone on Sarah Records: Classic or Dud?   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-11)
The problem, I think, is that a few records on Sarah were classics and others were duds, and a lot mithered somewhere inbetween.
Sarah came from the generally fun Creation aesthetic but imbued it with a humourlessness (or at best, a silly, hysterical sense of humour) and self-importance that really killed off all the fun and coolness of running a small label against the world.

The Orchids were musically one of the more interesting Sarah bands and certainly developed far more on that label than any band except, perhaps, The Field Mice.
Starting with a fairly conventional melancholy guitar pop sound on Lyceum and contemporaneous singles, they moved on to become more keyboard and sample/effects-based for their second and third albums, developing a more electronic sound, possibly as a result of their producer, Ian Carmichael, who was a member of dance band One Dove.
Their entire back catalogue was re-released on LTM Records in 2005.

 Sarah Vaughan - Verve Records
Sarah made music from a very early age, first singing in her church choir, then studying piano, then playing organ in church, then singing around town with Jabbo Smith, a great trumpeter and singer.
Thus she was in an ideal place musically at the point when she graduated from the big bands to being a star singer in her own right: She was already immersed in all manner of jazz techniques, but now she was in on the ground floor of the modern jazz movement.
But most of the time she was recording pop music, which, simply because she was Sarah Vaughan, had a distinct jazz tinge.
