Topic: Saraph

 [No title]
The Exodus event, with the brazen saraph being raised in the wilderness was explicitly mentioned by Christ to Nicodemus to be symbolic for his crucifixion (Jn.
When the saraph is seen to be a pterosaur, distinct from the serpent, the imagery becomes clear.
The knowledge that the saraph was a pterosaur, not the cursed serpent who is a symbol of Satan, yields a consistent biblical imagery for the allusion of Christ in John 3:14 and Isaiah 14:29.

Saraph - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Saraph (שרף), is the Israeli name for the Boeing AH-64D Apache Longbow attack helicopter, in its Israeli Air Force configuration.
It is named after the biblical snake, Saraph, called "fiery serpent" in popular English translations: "And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole".
A Seraph was also a type of "celestial being".

The SERPENT spoken of GENESIS 3.
In the same way Saraph, in Isaiah 6:2,6, means a burning one, and, because the serpents mentioned in Numbers 21 were burning, in the poison of their bite, they were called Saraphim, or Seraphs.
Now, if Saraph is used of a serpent because its bite was burning, and is also used of a celestial or spirit-being (a burning one), why should not Nachas be used of a serpent because its appearance was shining, and be also used of a celestial or spirit-being (a shining one)?
Indeed, a reference to the structure of Genesis 3 will show that the Cherubim (which are similar celestial or spirit-beings) of the last verse (Genesis 3:24) require a similar spirit-being to correspond with them in the first verse (for structure of the whole chapter is a great Introversion).

Flying serpent is the generally accepted translation of saraph me`opheph (Isaiah 30:6) -- commonly connected in Christian theology with the Devil; but the expression is metaphorical and has nothing to do with the Evil One.
And as saraph also signifies serpent, it could equally mean covered or concealed serpent, or flying serpent.
There is a strong mystical parallel, and possibly some remote etymological connection, between the Sanskrit sarpa (serpent) and the Hebrew saraph, the parallel doubtless arising in the same esoteric thread of mystical thought.

 OBJECTIVE: Creation Education | Pterosaurs
Contrary to Evolutionistic philosophy, historical reports of pterosaurs are numerous, although these reports are not often recognized as such by modern researchers since the animals were never referred to as "pterosaurs" before that term was coined in the 19th Century, instead being given various other descriptive names.
One of the most famous reports of this animal is from the pagan historian Herodotus, who, in his History, twice mentions Arabian "winged serpents," accurately describing them as being small, varied in color, producing a horrible screech, and having wings very closely resembling those of a bat.
The saraph pterosaurs of the Middle East, whose populations historically reached plague proportions, appear today to be all but, if not actually, extinct, as modern sightings of them are unheard of.

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Seraphim
Their name too, seraphim, distinguishes them from the cherubim, although it is confessedly difficult to obtain from the single Scriptural passage wherein these beings are mentioned a clear conception of its precise meaning.
The name is oftentimes derived from the Hebrew verb saraph ("to consume with fire"), and this etymology is very probable because of its accordance with Isa., vi, 6, where one of the seraphim is represented as carrying celestial fire from the altar to purify the Prophet's lips.
Still less probable are the views propounded of late by certain critics and connecting the Biblical seraphim with the Babylonian Sharrapu, a name for Nergal, the fire-god, or with the Egyptian griffins (séréf) which are placed at Beni-Hassan as guardians of graves.

"In punishment the Lord sent among the people saraph serpents, which bit the people so that many of them died." Though severe, divine punishment was an expression of love rather than judgment, a needed discipline to bring the people to their senses.
"Moses prayed for the people, and the Lord said to Moses, ‘Make a saraph and lift it up on a pole, and if anyone who has been bitten looks at it, he will recover.’" The bronze serpent (saraph) was no talisman.
