		The Tisza castle in Geszt, Wenckheim house in Sarkad, the Fried castle in Zsadány, the Bölöny house in Biharugra, the Wenckheim castles in Tarhos and Doboz could be the local centre of the tourism.
		The village originated on the border of the one-time flourishing noble estates, the founders were mostly servants and peasants.

		From the 15th century the diploma called Korhan-Stagnum contains some written evidence of the village, which was at the time owned, among others, by the Bacsó and Bajomi families, then later by the Thurzós and Prince István Bocskai.
		The settlement was destroyed several times by the Mongols and the Turks, since it was situated by an important military road (connecting Gyula, Sarkad and Nagyvárad), with a nearby intersection with the one leading north, and it was also from here that Transsylvania was accessible along Királyhágó.
		Reformed religious life started in the 17th century, followed at the end of the 18th century by the building of a towered church, still erect today.

		The main player of the most scandalous case was the minister of agriculture when he visited a small town in the southeastern part of the country, Sarkad.
		Sarkad is a typical agricultural area suffering from agricultural “restructuring” in line with EU-demands, which is the euphemistic term used instead of 'crippling it'.
		After privatisation the new owner disassembled it, took the machinery abroad and closed the factory.

		We were anxiously awaiting a colleague who was a neighbour and a friend - Dr. Ferenc Fischer.

	Pestiside: Four Pimps Get 17.5 Years in Kecskemét
		The court says the paperwork for the "boss" was done by two brothers from Szolnok.
		The "managers" were convicted of buying two girls from other pimps in Kevermes and Sarkad: Mónika from Dombegyháza and Mariann from Vésztő, who were first taken to Szolnok, then sold to the "boss" for half a million little ones in Kecskemét the following day.
		The interesting point of the case, Blikk writes, is that the 45-year-old "boss" from Szolnok - who is not the pimp in the pic - is still a free man, despite having been in court on eight different occasions.
