  My Thesis
The present study examines the effects of Navigation (a mean of pollution of the maritime eco-system), to the coastal and maritime environment of Saronikos Gulf, aiming to suggest methods of Environmental Management, Sustainable Development and Systematic Monitoring of this very important human activity.
Late studies at the coastal and maritime environment of Saronikos Gulf, are then presented, focusing at the Physical (Geology, Bathymetry, etc) and Chemical (Dissolved Oxygen, Nutrient salts, Phytoplankton, Zooplankton, etc) characteristics as well as Dynamic (Hydrology, Flows) of the gulf’s water masses.
A mention at the social, economic consequences of pollution at the Saronikos Gulf area, and confrontation measures of reducing or effacing it, considering the Modern Techniques of Integrated Coastal Zone Management are presented.

The most important and best-studied coastal areas are those of the Saronikos Gulf and the Gulf of Elefsis (near Athens) and the Thermaikos Gulf (near Thessaloniki); both areas are semi-enclosed systems that are influenced by pollution activities and have relatively weak currents.
The Saronikos Gulf is considered to be among the most polluted Greek gulfs, and the Gulf of Elefsis is the most eutrophic area in the whole Saronikos region because nutrients are also released from sediments in anoxic periods.
Pollution in the Saronikos Gulf influences the abundance, composition, and structure of plankton.
