According to a news posted on Friday in kuenselonline, during discussions on the foreign ministers-level 14th Ministerial Joint Committee (MJC) in the 81st session of Tshogdu, the chimis (members) expressed "alarm" and "distress" that some of the ngolops (anti-nationals) will be allowed to return.
The chimis from Tsirang and Sarpang said that the people were distressed when they learnt that some of the "ngolops might be allowed to return".
Incidentally, Tsirang and Sarpang (Sarbhang) are those districts which had pre-dominantly Lhotsampa (Bhutanese of Nepalese origin) populace before their exodus began in the late 80s and early 90s.

Although control measures have helped in bringing down malaria related illnesses and deaths in the southern belt, the disease is still a threat, according to the latest reports from the Vector-borne Disease Control Programme (VDCP) in Gelephu, Sarpang.
Meanwhile, the two most malaria plagued sub-tropical dzongkhags of Sarpang and Samdrup Jongkhar have shown considerable improvement.
Sibsoo hospital reported 438 numbers of malaria cases, followed by Lhamoizinkha in Sarpang and Samtse hospital at 289 and 223 cases respectively.

The business community of Sarpang and Gelephu has made an appeal for the exemption of business income tax (BIT) for 2004 to the regional revenue and customs office in Gelephu but the problem is that, like so many Bhutanese businesses, the appeals are not substantiated by papers.
The regional office agreed that the overall business in Gelephu, especially the hoteliers, were affected with customers having declined drastically in recent months because of the security situation.
Business in Sarpang, however, was not affected as much by the security problem.

The Royal Bhutan Army had smashed 19 of the 30 well fortified insurgent camps located in the dense jungles of the land-locked kingdom, a senior government official in Thimphu told PTI by phone.
The army action spread from Dhangtar in Samdrup Jongkhar district, where offensives were concentrated to Nganglam area in southen Bhutan, Sarpang district in west Bhutan and beyond Samtse, he said.
