 | | Sartoris, Bayard, III: (March 16, 1893-June 5, 1920) The twin brother of John Sartoris, III, and son of John and Lucy Cranston Sartoris, and grandson of "Colonel" or "Old" Bayard. |
 | | During the postwar years, Sartoris grew in stature as a politician and businessman, building a railroad and when that was completed in 1876, he ran for the state Legislature, defeating his former business partner, B.J. Redmond, who in a final act of desperation stemming from years of rivalry decides to kill Sartoris. |
