  Sarutahiko Ohkami
Sarutahiko is the chief of the earthly kami and the husband of Ama-no-Uzume no Mikoto, the goddess of mirth, dancing, wifery, and health.
This was Sarutahiko, and as he guarded the Bridge of Heaven, Ninigi could not descend until the giant god swore fealty to him.
So impressed was Sarutahiko by the goddess' boldness that he immediately obeyed the command and at the same time asked her to be his wife.

Sarutahiko Okami is enshrined in the Honden or Shinden as it is also sometimes called, the inner sanctuary.
Sarutahiko is the kami of bravery and therefore he acts as the guardian kami of the Japanese martial arts, particularly the form of self defense known as Aikido.

Although other kami were enshrined at Aiki Jinja, he still resolved that Sarutahiko Okami would be installed as the central divinity of Aikido and therefore I made the journey to Iwama with a bunke goshintai, a branch of the sacred worship object to represent the spirit of Sarutahiko Okami.
In a sense this episode was the beginning of the recognition of the growing influence and importance of Sarutahiko Okami and it led on to the great task of the restoration and reconstruction of the Tsubaki Grand Shrine, the central task of my life.

Sarutahiko is the leader of earthly kami (Kunitsu Kami).
O-Sensei believed he received many teachings from this kami and, in 1960, had Sarutahiko enshrined by the High Priest at the Aikido shrine in Iwama.
This Shrine houses the enshrinement for Ame-no-uzume-no-Mikoto, the wife of Sarutahiko.

Every year in June, the shrine holds a festival and its highlight of outstanding mikoshi (portable shrine) parade attracts many people.
