Manga Thoughts: Vagabond (Kojiro Arc) - Review
Kojiro on the other hand spends much of his early life as a relaxed and serene person, content with mastering his stroke alone continuously and patiently training with his master.
While Musashi was raised and trained through exterior factors, the elements and environment around him such as the mountains and his opponents, Kojiro's deafness allowed him to develop through interior factors, to practice and train himself from within, to listen to his own body, and to find the answers he needed the same way.
He lead Kojiro to the battle of Sekihagara, and subsequently abandoned him in the mountains teeming with peasants bearing hatred at the consequences of the war.

Musashi: Samurai Legend - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Several elements of Brave Fencer: Musashi and Samurai Legend: Musashi are superficially derived from the legend of Miyamoto Musashi, a famous Japanese swordsman, though the game's plot is unrelated to Miyamoto's life.
Gandrake's revealed name was based on Sasaki Kojiro's samurai name, Ganryu, and the attack he used to incapacitate Musashi is called the "Swallow's Tail"; a reference to Sasaki Kojiro's most famous technique, the "Swallow's tail strike".
Another example is that in Samurai Legend the secondary weapon of choice is called "The Great Oar", which is based upon the oar that Miyamoto Musashi used in one of his more famous battles, against Sasaki Kojiro.

Historically Sasaki was forty at Ganryuujima (middle-aged for those days) to Musashi's twenty-something, but in the film he was played by a young and tender bikei actor called Tsuruta Koji, and the film emphasized Kojiro's life-long obsession and rivalry with Musashi.

Kojiro Sasaki(Koji Tsuruta), an ambitious young swordsman who sees Musashi as his only worthy opponent waits in the wings to see the outcome of this fight between the school and Musashi.
Following his duel with Sasaki, he seems to have focused his energies on perfecting his style of swordsmanship, spending much time in travel and reflection - thus epitomizing the much-beloved image of the brooding wanderer samurai.
Interestingly, the Asahi Shimbun noted in 1988 that at least one Edo Period source questioned Musashi's duel with Sasaki, stating that Musashi was not alone at the fight, and that his followers killed Ganryu when he had been knocked down to the ground.
