Films with this rating are allowed to include: occasional violence, occasional swearing and coarse language, the most innocent of sexually suggestive scenes and nudity.
A film is classified as Parental Guidance where the themes or content of the film may not be suitable for all children, although there is no age restriction.

(2) Where the board is satisfied that it is appropriate to return a film to an applicant pursuant to subsection 10(2) of the Act, the board may return the film to the applicant on payment by the applicant of a fee in an amount equal to twice the fee prescribed in clause 3(2)(a).

Power to classify 5(1) Where a film is approved by the board pursuant to section 4, the board shall, in accordance with this section: (a) classify the film into a category of classification for films that is prescribed in the regulations; or (b) approve a classification previously applied to the film.
(5) Where a film or any information relating to the content of the film is submitted to the board to allow the board to approve and classify or approve a classification for the film, the board may retain the film or the information for any period of time that it considers appropriate.
(2) The board or any person authorized by the board shall: (a) carry out the viewing of any film and the copying of any film and advertising removed pursuant to clause (1)(e) with reasonable dispatch; and (b) promptly return the film and advertising to the person from whom the film and advertising were taken.

Under the act, Saskatchewan will become the second province to adopt the new film and video classification categories developed by film classification officials across Canada.
Effective October 1, 1997, Saskatchewan will enter into an agreement with British Columbia to have the British Columbia Film Classification Board (BCFCB) provide classification services for films released in theatres and for adult videos, but not for mainstream videos.
