The Saskatchewan Party is a centre-right political party in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan.
The Saskatchewan Party serves as the province's Official Opposition, holding 27 of the 58 seats (1 vacant due to a recent resignation) in the province's Legislative Assembly in Regina.
In 2004, the Saskatchewan Party had attacked the provincial NDP government over a bad investment, named SpudCo, and the actions of a cabinet minister, Eldon Lautermilch who was forced to apologize for misleading the legislature, a fact that only became apparent once sworn evidence was acquired from a civil lawsuit against the province.

The Saskatchewan New Democratic Party (NDP) (formerly the Saskatchewan Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF)) is a social democratic political party in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan.
The Saskatchewan CCF followed suit, and adopted its current name in 1967 after a transitional period when the party was awkwardly named the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation, Saskatchewan Section of the New Democratic Party of Canada.
An irony of recent Saskatchewan NDP history is that despite starting in the 1930s as a party of rural discontent, it had by the 1990s lost almost all of its rural seats and found its greatest strength in Saskatchewan's cities.

The cartoon was drawn as an illustration of the concern shared by many in the NDP that the Saskatchewan party has drawn up a list of bureaucrats it will dismiss should the party win the election Nov. 5.
