  Satyr Tragopan Pheasant
The Satyr Tragopans live in heavily wooded areas of the Himalayas, it is therefore best if they can have some good shaded areas in the aviary.
The Satyr tragopan is quite heavy, the cock is around 4lbs in weight.
Satyrs are not flighty birds in fact they become very tame and will wait patiently by the gate every morning for you to come and feed them.

Satyr tragopan are on the 1st Class national protection status both in China as India as well.
Satyr tragopan is on appendix III of CITES.

Beebe (1918-1922) found western tragopans to be foraging on newly sprouted leaves, and based on the accounts of various sportsmen believed that such vegetable matter forms their principal diet.
Generally, the satyr tragopan is largely limited to the watershed of the Ganges River, whilst the western is associated with the watershed of the Indus, although no major ecological or physiographic barrier separates the two at present.
