		Nell'annata 1998 Peter Sauber si affidò all'esperto Jean Alesi per cercare di fare il salto di qualità, ma il pilota italo-francese e il riconfermato Herbert non andarono al di là di 10 punti totali che posizionarono la scuderia al 6° posto.
		Nell'annata 2004 Peter Sauber ha puntato su Giancarlo Fisichella e sul cavallo di ritorno Felipe Massa e in un certo modo i risultati si sono visti, con prestazioni tutto sommato migliori (frutto anche di una certa superiorità delle gomme Bridgestone rispetto alle Michelin montate da tutti i team diretti concorrenti in classifica).
