Miter saw alignment system - Patent 5285708
The miter saw has a base, a turntable rotatably supported by the base, a fence disposed above the base for supporting the orientation of the workpiece located on the base, a support coupled to the rear portion of the turntable, and a cutting apparatus including a blade for cutting the workpiece.
A belt-driven embodiment of the miter saw has an adjustable pulley system comprising a motor connected to a drive pulley, a blade pulley connected to the blade, the blade pulley being in substantial alignment with the drive pulley, and a belt for connecting the drive pulley with the blade pulley.
The optical system comprises a light projection system which is attached to a cutting apparatus for projecting a planar beam of light past one side of the blade and onto the workpiece in order to form an optical alignment marker on the workpiece.

Shopsmith Academy of Woodworking Table Saw - Special Operations
Coving is a unique table saw operation in that the work is fed obliquely across the blade (Figure 4-8) It is a lengthy process because the shape is achieved by making numerous passes with the saw blade's projection increased by no more than 1/16" each pass.
When the projection of the saw blade is a bit more than half the stock's thickness, openings in the work result where the cuts cross (Figure 4-18).
The idea in forming simple inlays is to cut kerfs (Figure 4-20), with a saw blade or dado head, and then fill the grooves with a contrasting wood (Figure 4-21) that is cut to fit.

 Conway Saw - Sedgwick TA
The rip fence is aluminium section, allowing for two working positions (ripping and angled ripping) and for movement fore and aft in relation to the saw blade to suit different operations.
Designed for cutting mitres and compound angles, end trimming, squaring, dividing, and trimming, this table is again cast iron, and is supported on the RHS by precision ground, case hardened bearing rollers running on a 40mm diameter solid steel bar, and on the LHS by cast jib.
The spindle is powered by an industrial motor via a twin belt drive (3 on the 400/450), and features large diameter saw flanges for blade stability.

Woodworking eTool: Machine Hazards > Tool Projection
Guards must have adequate strength to resist blows and strains and should be constructed to protect operators from flying splinters and machine parts such as broken saw teeth, cutting heads, and tools.
Similarly, you must only mount blades, cutter heads, or collars on machine arbors that have been accurately sized and shaped to fit these parts.
You must remove dull, badly set, improperly filed or improperly tensioned saws from service, and immediately clean saws to which gum has adhered.

Craftsman Professional 10 in. Radial Arm Saw, Stationary 22038 Review at Epinions.com
A radial arm saw basically consists of a motor (rather like a handheld circular saw) suspended from a long arm, in a yoke, which permits multiple degrees of rotation freedom for the motor assembly.
This is a tiny projection at the back shoulder of the blade hook which limits the maximum tooth bite to that blade design.
The saw is a little funky in use since, as it cuts through wood, it also cuts slightly through the table when parting off.

Table saw - Encyclopedia, History, Geography and Biography
The saw consists of a circular saw blade, mounted on an arbor, that is driven by an electric motor (either directly or by belt or gears).
In modern table saws, the depth of the cut is varied by adjusting the amount of the blade that protrudes above the table surface: the higher the blade protrudes above the table, the deeper the cut that is made in the material.
Benchtop saws are the smallest type of table saw and have the least mass, potentially resulting in increased vibration during a cut.

 Woodworking Machinery Requirements
For saws with tilting tables or tilting arbors the fence shall be so constructed that it will remain in a line parallel with the saw, regardless of the angle of the saw with the table.
(13) Revolving double arbor saws shall be fully guarded in accordance with all the requirements for circular crosscut saws or with all the requirements for circular ripsaws, according to the kind of saws mounted on the arbors.
The sides of the lower exposed portion of the blade shall be guarded to the full diameter of the blade by a device that will automatically adjust itself to the thickness of the stock and remain in contact with stock being cut to give maximum protection possible for the operation being performed.

Cutting Acrylic: Plastic Distributor & Fabricator
Table saws and vertical saws are limited to cutting single sheets, while an automated panel saw is designed to process stacks of acrylic sheets.
Saw blades vary in tooth geometry, number of teeth, width of blade, rpm speed and other factors depending on the specific job requirements.
Acrylic residue remaining in the saw blade gullet, on the saw table or in the saw carriage can cause heat and melting problems resulting in loss of quality and yield.

BGIA - Practical aids: Low-noise blades on circular saws / Berufsgenossenschaftliches Institut für Arbeitsschutz
During sawing, the saw blade and the workpiece are caused to vibrate.
Saw blades incorporating laser incisions that inhibit the generation of natural vibration and, thanks to the friction in the incisions, achieve better damping.
The results from the BGIA project are described in a noise protection worksheet of the German Federation of the Institutions for Statutory Accident Insurance and Prevention - HVBG (BGI 5051, issued in April 2006, in German).

SAW CARRIAGE The perfectly linear movement of the saw carriage, with up to maximum speeds of 150 m/min, is obtained by the movement of a precise pinion and helicoidal rack and brushless servomotor with digital technology, installed directly on the saw carriage.
The main saw blade projection is adjusted automatically in function of the thickness of the of the stack to cut, thereby obtaining the best quality cut under any working conditions.
The alignment of the scoring blade to the main saw blade is safely carried out with the saw blades in motion, from outside the machine.

Blade lead is caused by the milling process used in the making of bandsaw and scroll saw blades.
Blades are milled from left to right as you are looking at the front of the blade, leaving a smooth edge on the left side and a burr on the right side of the blade.
Saw out past the point, make a 180º turn and saw back on line, if the blade jumps or is searching for a bite, stop the saw, push the blade against the line, hold pressure and start sawing.

mySimon - Consumer Reports Circular Saws - Circular Saw Reviews - Circular Saw Buying Guides
Circular saws are a mainstay for quickly cutting the two-by-fours and plywood used in many popular home-improvement projects.
That gives a saw more twisting power, or torque, making the blade less likely to bind in dense or thick wood, though sawing tends to be slower since the blade speed is reduced.
A visible blade, one that's located to the left of the motor or a notch in the upper blade guard, helps you see the blade and your cutting mark without leaning over the saw.
