I miss Christine, her smooth vocals and keyboards will be missed, but it is fun to see Buckingham/Nicks come full circle in their own special brand of sound they created when they were so young so many years ago, it's still there, very much fresh and new and young.
It will probably be a huge hit after "Peacekeeper" drops off the charts, and we will have to hear it thousands of times.
The packaging is ok, but I will say that I find it annoying that though the additional players on the disk are listed, they are not specified to what song.

So, Say You Will winds up occupying a strange middle ground, often feeling as if it was Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks' albums bouncing around on shuffle play, but also occasionally flashing moments that are purely, satisfyingly Fleetwood Mac.
Nicks' material is better-realized than many of her recent albums, but Buckingham's always sounds as if it should be wilder than it is (it should all sound as unrestrained as his guitar, which is continually surprising throughout the record).

She is featured on Buckingham's stirring "Bleed to Love Her" and "Say You Will's" Nicks-penned title track, which was written as an homage to Christine McVie and evokes the band's classic mid-1970s sound.
Say You Will is a pretty good new studio album that includes the participation of four of the five "golden" members — that is, those responsible for the group's most successful release, 1977's Rumours: Mick Fleetwood and John McVie, of course, but also Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.
Say what you will about the band's bumpy past, Say You Will is a welcome relapse of the Mac attack.

Nearly all of the tunes on SAY YOU WILL are terrific and the album's pacing and sequencing work far better than I initially suspected, but I still can't help but wish that Buckingham and Nicks had collaborated a bit more together on at least a couple tracks for unity's sake.
Stevie Nicks has been more active than Buckingham in her recent career, although her work on SAY YOU WILL is no less impressive.
Nicks delivers a couple of her trademark incoherent musings with "Illume" and "Smile at You," both of which become instantly memorable due to the passion and urgency in which they are performed.

 SAY YOU WILL
With Say You Will (out April 15 on Reprise), the glorious new album from one of the most original and enduring bands in the history of popular music, Fleetwood Mac reinvents the interactive chemistry that has sustained a genuinely legendary career.
Beyond the multi-platinum stats, the tour grosses and the trappings of pop stardom, this storied aggregate of strong wills, potent talents and tangled histories has sustained a common musical bond since the group originally formed in 1967, fashioning, in the process, an unequalled body of work.
Nearly seven years after Lindsey had begun work on what was to be a solo album, Say You Will was complete, and with it, the renewal of one of popular music’s most influential and enduring bands.

DVD-Audio Review: Fleetwood Mac - ‘Say You Will’
High Fidelity Review will contact the producer of this disc, David May of Warner Bros., to investigate this, but the likelihood is that if timescales aren’t the issue, data space is, as this album clocks in at a CD-filling seventy-six minutes.
I will not comment on these tracks except to say that on a cursory listen they seem to be serviceable facsimiles of the MLP tracks, with top and bottom ends and more complex instruments sounding compromised by the lossy compression.
‘Say You Will’ is the obvious single, in the classic Stevie lead mode, with a Lindsey slide solo which is reminiscent of David Lindley’s sound on his early solo records.

Now, the definitive Mac roster is back for Say You Will, the band's first full studio album since 1987's forgettable ''Tango in the Night.'' Well, 80 percent of the roster is, anyway: Christine McVie has opted to sit this one out.
Minus Christine, ''Say You Will'' is evenly split between the contributions of Buckingham and Nicks -- truly two of pop's great eccentrics, often best taken in limited doses.
The larger problem with ''Say You Will,'' however, might be that it's Fleetwood Mac's first real album of the CD era -- which means, like so many discs, it's way too long simply because it can be.

Say You Will could have been a solo record of his also, but when I buy a Fleetwood Mac album, I am looking for that balance.
It has its moments and the radio has been pretty friendly to “Say You Will” and “Peacekeeper” but tracks like “Red Rover” and “Come” feel too much like overindulgent Buckingham.

Fleetwood Mac has brought the world some of the most celebrated music of all time, and their latest effort, Say You Will, continues the sonic perfection we’ve come to expect from them.
Say You Will is Fleetwood Mac’s first album with Lindsay Buckingham since 1987’s Tango in the Night.
Say You Will is the progeny of seven years of Lindsay’s work on a solo project, and Stevie and Lindsay’s increased space for CD-pit real estate (after Christine McVie decided to not dive into the soap opera again).

Hardware Avenue :: Say You Will
The re-addition of Lindsey Buckingham (his first studio album the band since 1987) and Stevie Nicks (her first since 1990) into the fold seems to have rejuvenated the old hit machine, and their knack for crafting memorable, hook-filled pop/rock (brimming with thoughtful lyrics, melodic surprises, and impossibly tight harmonies) remains firmly intact.
And that is definitely where Christine McVie is missed the most, as her consistently calm material was quite often the glue that held it all together.
The songs here are good, with Nicks providing some of her best pieces in years (and continuing on her 'Trouble In Shangri-La' sound) and Buckingham showing, yet again, why he is probably one of the most gifted (albeit perhaps somewhat underrated) musical geniuses of his time.

Slant Magazine - Music Review: Fleetwood Mac: Say You Will
Though her contributions were often eclipsed by the sheer power and mysticism of the band's other chief songwriters, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, the anchor McVie's more sober compositions provided has become evident in her absence.
Though the band thankfully steered clear of any obvious attempts to update their sound for the new millennium, the album's biggest flaw is its digital-era ambition.
There are few throwaways, if any, but with two figurative finales (Buckingham's "Say Goodbye" and Nicks' requisite answer, "Goodbye Baby"), it seems the Mac have thrown in everything but the kitchen sink.

Because when somebody says something like that, and allows it to become public…well…pretty soon the whole world does know how bad you are.
It actually is a great project, for you aspiring artists out there: stewing over making one thing perfect will make you less talented than the person who makes a lot of things badly in an attempt to get better.
