Scafell Pike, situated in the Cumbrian mountains in the beautful Lake District of Great Britain is England's highest peak.
Scafell Pike was donated to the National Trust in the first quarter of the 20th Century by Lord Leconfield in memory of the men of the Lake District who fell in the First World War.
Edward Baines climbed the Pike in 1828, and described his experiences in 'A Companion to the Lakes of Cumberland, Westmorland and Lancashire', and in the 20th century, Wainwright famously described the walks to all of the peaks in the area.

The original intention was to continue from Scafell Pike to Scafell, then traverse back under Pikes Crag to reach Lingmell, but a navigational error leaving the Pike, poor weather and impending sunset meant that we decided to skip Scafell.
At Esk Hause the peak to the left is Esk Pike.

The walk was a tough one as we chose to tackle both Sca Fell and Scafell Pike.
Adjacent to Lingmell you reach a junction on the Corridor Route where straight on leads to Scafell Pike and the right fork takes a path down to Hollow Stones and then Lingmell Gill which flows into the western end of Wast Water.
The best route back to Seathwaite is by leaving Scafell Pike in a north easterly direction down to a gully and then directly up to Broad Crag.

However, due to being an inexperienced driver and feeling terrible I slept all the way to Scafell Pike, apart from the last hour when having to travel over Hardknott and Wrynose pass made me feel sick.

I remember thinking that I wasn't going to be beaten by Scafell Pike, this was my third time on the peak and I had never had good weather.
Scafell Pike was almost a disaster, it accounted for three members (Andy called it a day after completing the peak) of the team and over an hour more time than budgeted.

It has views across the fell towards Scafell Pike, (Englands's highest mountain), and is a ten minute walk from one of the smaller of the lakes, Devoke Water, which never the less is nearly a mile long!
