Topic: Scaled Composites Model 395

 SPIE Proceedings Vol. 3668
A computer code was developed from a model for composite plates that allowed for the variation of structural properties (mass and stiffness) due to the presence of the stiffeners.
The nonlinear hysteretic biviscous model is used to identify four physical parameters of the MR damper from the force vs. velocity diagram due to sinusoidal input displacements: pre-yield damping, post-yield damping, yield force, and zero-force velocity intercept.
The model uses 3D finite element and equivalent circuit models that are applied to predict the excitation frequency and modal response of the stator.

Scaled logo Scaled Composites (often abbreviated as Scaled) was founded in 1982 in Mojave, California by famous aircraft designer Burt Rutan out of what used to be the Rutan Aircraft Factory.
Although the role was not widely publicized, Scaled also manufactured the 1988 Stars and Stripes catamaran for Dennis Conners entry of that year in the Americas Cup yacht race.
Model 346: Apparently a spacecraft ("SpaceShipTwo"?); yet to be announced officially, but referenced by Rutan verbally in 2004 in aviation.

Relationship between Composition and Toxicity of Motor Vehicle Emission Samples
PLS was used for the regression modeling to correlate the measured responses to the compositional parameters (Wold et al.
As a consequence, regression modeling with PLS was done with the 11 lung toxicity end points simultaneously (it is advantageous to use multiple responses because they will support one another in the model), and the four mutagenicity end points were modeled separately.
Grouping compositional components by class, however, has the disadvantage of making the often-false assumption that all species within the class are equally toxic per unit of mass or that the proportions among the grouped compounds are similar.

Still, as there are 1:144 model railways, in Japan itself this does not matter much; and numerous after market accessories for mecha models (as well as scratch building, which is what makes this hobby fun) render this "strange" scaling matter into non-matter.

Coordinating color produced by two devices--using a hue-controlled machine color space, or surface scaling - Patent ...
One straightforward kind of surface scaling is mapping colors to the output-gamut surface at constant lightness--in other words, displacing each out-of-destination-device-gamut point along a horizontal (constant-lightness) line to the intersection of that line with the gamut boundary.
Thus as can be understood this invention provides a new kind of surface scaling by radial movement toward (but not to) a point within the gamut; in view of this radial pattern of data displacement the internal defined point may be conveniently denominated a "pivot point".
Whereas it cannot be avoided in surface scaling to map an area to a line--and thus a line to a point--it is objectionable on information-preserving grounds to map an area to a point.

 Photovoltaic Device
They used composite films of poly (2-methoxy-5-(2’-ethy-hexyloxy)-1,4-phenylene vinylene) or MEH-PPV and fullerenes exhibit hc of about 29 percent of electrons per photon and he of about 2.9 percent, efficiencies that are better by more than two orders of magnitude than those that have been achieved with devices made with pure MEH-PPV.
They described a simple model to explain the recombination in these devices, and show how the absorption, charge separation, and transport properties of the composites can be controlled by changing the size, material, and surface ligands of the nano-crystals.

The first part of the research is aimed at developing a constitutive model for the evolution of early-age concrete properties on the basis of the wave reflection measurements by interrelating the results of the studies on fundamental material parameters and the numerical modeling.
The aim of this part of the research is to develop a constitutive material model that can determine early age concrete properties based on the mix design of the concrete and the reflection loss measured in-situ at the structure.
The basis of the model will be the results of the study on the fundamental relationships between reflection loss and basic concrete properties and the results of the numerical simulation.
