The New Standard Battery Tester For UPS , AGM, VRLA, VLA and Emergency Battery Testing is here
SOCTESTER™ battery analyzers scan the infrastructure of the battery and exercise it to measure its ampere hour capacity, its ability to supply relatively large currents, and whether it is fully charged.
While the SOC140 is not the first battery tester on the market, it is the only one using an exclusive testing method that allows the operator to exercise and explore the battery’s internal profile - in less than 43 seconds - measuring the state-of-charge (SOC) of the battery.
This portable tester is ideal for all applications including field diagnostic and regulation compliance testing, maintenance or installation check ups and stored battery inventory management.

The ideal scan configuration for the 16 scan pin tester is 8 scan chains, 32 scan chains for the 64 scan pin testers, and 128 scan chains for the 256 scan pin testers.
While reconfigurable scan technology consists of the DFT portion of the solution, other changes need to be made to the patterns that allow for the test pattern data to be applicable to all the configurations without replicating the test data several times.
Figure 4 shows how multiple scan chains in the design are configured using multiplexers to allow all the flip-flops to be part of a single scan chain, or part of multiple scan chains depending on the value set on the select signal of the multiplexers.

Encyclopedia :: encyclopedia : Pan and scan   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
Pan and scan is a method of adjusting widescreen film images so that they can be shown within the proportions of an ordinary TV screen, by cropping off the sides of the original widescreen image.
During the "pan and scan" process, an operator selects the parts of the original filmed composition that seem to be significant and makes sure they are copied—"scanning." When the important action shifts to a new position in the frame, the operator moves the scanner to follow it, creating the effect of a pan shot.
This method allows the maximum resolution of the image, since it uses all the available video scan lines -- which is especially important for NTSC television, that has a rather low number of lines available to begin with.

Since the scan operation is not critically timed, the data from the L2 has a generous amount of time to propagate to the L1 before the functional L1 clock is pulsed.
This may result in a scan chain that is a "hard" stuck-at, i.e., a chain that is stuck in such a way that data supplied to the scan-in port cannot be measured or observed at the scan-out port when the scan clocks are turned on.
The initial goal of the characterization phase is to attempt to further isolate the failure to either the L1 or the L2 latch, the scan data path between the latches, or one of the scan clocks.

There is a lack of a low-cost single-chip boundary scan tool and not enough experience and knowledge to make a wise purchase of a high-end, whole-board boundary scan test generator.
Boundary scan testing has the potential to reduce test-development costs since high-coverage tests for assembly defects are automatically generated, and to simplify test fixtures with fewer pins.
Once the board is on the in-circuit tester, it usually is easier to stick with the old known testing method (in-circuit) rather than go through the painful process of learning the new (boundary scan).
