Scandinavian metal concerns the death metal bands of Scandinavian origin.
Many bands that fall under this category are associated with the melodic death metal movement, thus giving Scandinavian death metal a very different sound from other variations of death metal.
The Swedish and Finnish bands, inspired by Bathory and other 1980s thrash metal bands, were more popular than the Norwegian bands, who were influenced strongly by fl metal and included keyboards and chaotic riffs.

Scandinavian death metal describes a particular style of death metal that emerged from Finland and Sweden in the late 80's.
Popularized as "Gothenburg metal" and pioneered by the likes of In Flames and Opeth, its kid-friendly sound quickly caught on with people who had previously avoided death metal.
"Scandinavian death metal" had taken on a whole new meaning in the mainstream mind, and needless to say, a lot of people were pissed.

Death metal, thrash metal, metal-core, metal in vein of Pantera – this stylistic spectrum is pretty diverse.
Elements of Scandinavian school of death/fl metal are dominant on this recorded in 2001 and 2002 demo.
If they concentrated on death metal side of their music, I think that they would be able to record pretty good material but they wanted to be most trendy guys in the universe and created awful mixture of death metal, hard-core, nu-metal.

Metal sanded away most of the blues influences and leaving the powerful, loud guitar riffs.
By and large, heavy metal is rock & roll with all of the roll stripped away -- the blues remains, but it doesn't swing.
In every metal style, from pop-metal to thrash, bombast is the key -- from the drums to the guitars, it's about being as loud as possible.

Barton's Metal is in fact copper overlaid with a thick layer of gold, and was used in 1825 during the reign of George IV for pattern five pound and two pound coins by the Royal Mint.
Perhaps the most ideal metal for coins, as it is malleable and chemically inert, to the extent that gold coins discovered after long periods in the ground still maintain their lustrous appearance.
As it is a soft metal it is nowadays almost always used alloyed with copper to make it more durable, although gold-silver alloys have been used, particularly by Australia in the manufacture of sovereigns and half-sovereigns during the period 1855-1870.

 Immortal - Black Metal
Combining the syncopated elements of early death metal, the vastly differentiated structures and themes of the previous era's hobbit rock, and the simple rhythmic insurgency of hardcore music and simple fl metal, these Norwegians create a massive depth of intricacy with a matching mythology.
This style affirms the ultimate nihilism of death metal, which is a seeming disregard for all order to the point of negating communication, but does it through a method of showing potential and not kinetic connection, illustrating what could be rather than the confinements of boundary.
Seething distortion and rolling battledrums obscure all but the harsh voice of winter when sound drops to the relatively soft for building of conclusive melody, allowing transfer of theme for sequencing its multitude of sensations that are like perception of a place as a whole in memory: dreamlike, idealized, and detailed across many incidents.

 Absu - Thrashing Black Metal
Absu combine the two elements, sounding like a Scandinavian death metal band with a fl metal ideal and some death metal adaptations in the Western hemisphere style (a good band to compare in terms of approach would be Hypocrisy, who have a similar mix of influences but a different take on the aesthetic of them).
Death metal comes in in the riff structure, which follows the standard all-phrasing little tonality idea that most of that genre embrace, but in the melodic undertones and dark cadences there is potent fl metal, something reinforced by the unearthly high-end scream laid down as a vocal track.
The nature of embellishment on most metal records as a chance to show off the keyboards in the name of "open-mindedness" contrasts egregiously the diligent integration of certain choice paganistic intros, clean guitar parts in the folk style, and insertion of non-guitar instruments that occurs here.

Starting in the early Eighties as a gimmick-flavored synthesis of classic Metal's dark, horror-film aesthetics with raw thrash music, Black Metal has evolved into a widespread, harsh-sounding subgenre whose lyrics and imagery invoke occultism, misanthropy and severe anti-Christian sentiments.
In Norway, a small but fervent underground Black Metal scene quickly grew violent around 1992, as members of well-known bands in that country became involved in a wave of church burnings, suicide, and murder.
Many Scandinavian Metal acts identify heavily with their Viking ancestry, so there's ample Odinism, Tolkien, and mythological references for the thoughtful 'metal head'.

The only drawback I find is the music tends to be a bit too fast and repetitive for my likes, but being that I’m a real fan of aggression, it’s very hard to get away from the assault on this CD.
The only problem the guys may run into with this release, is that being caught between the melodic death metal bands, the nu-metal movement and the power metal fascination, they tend to lose any foothold in the industry.

Few other Death Metal albums I've heard measure up to this (one album that is just as good, if not better, is Nile's Amongst The Catacombs Of Nephren-Ka).
The music is very technical, yet very atmospheric (the keyboards in certain parts remind me of a combo of Morbid Angel's Altars of Madness and Nocturnus' Ethereal Tomb), and envokes unique moods just like Under A Funeral Moon or Transilvanian Hunger.
