Man AG of Germany is likely to make a cash and stock bid for Swedish Scania AB, valuing the maker of trucks and buses at about 9.5 billion euros ($12.1 billion) and potentially forming Europe's largest commercial vehicle maker, according to a newspaper report.
Scania hasn't approved the bid, but the German firm is hopeful of the deal ultimately being friendly, these people said.
Volkswagen AG and Investor AB of Sweden, in addition to Renault SA of France are likely to approve the deal, these people added.

For the quarter, Scania's net profit rose 55 percent to 1.28 billion kronor ($175.9 million), compared with 825 million kronor in the same period last year.
