On top of his music skills, this rapper is also the president of Def Jam South—and this album proves that despite his corporate day-job, he is still true to his earlier street life.
However, Scarface’s almost droning voice is not really rough or ‘gritty’—what makes him sound ‘gritty’ is the rage conveyed by his street-wise lyrics, which are second to none.
Scarface’s Southern grit and streetwise lyrics on The Fix will seem like a breath of fresh air to people who are weary of the second-rate rap records that are saturating the already crowded urban music scene.

The Influence of “Scarface” on Hip-Hop Culture and Origin of a Hip-Hop Classic
It is also interesting to note that aside from the rapper Eve, there is not a single female voice among the commentators; and indeed, the world depicted in “Scarface” is a world with little room for females, and the film often basks shamelessly in its misogyny and commodification of women.
The 20th Anniversary Special Edition DVD of “Scarface,” released in 2003, also includes a short documentary on how the film has influenced hip-hop culture and music, consisting mainly of interviews with many prominent hip-hop personalities and delving into the impact “Scarface” has had on their lives and careers.
This is clearly a tribute to the infamous bathtub sequence in “Scarface,” where Tony Montana sits in a bubble bath in a near-identical bedroom, puffing on a cigar, wallowing in his self-satisfaction while talking down to his irritated wife, played by Michelle Pfeiffer.

His albums were often plagued with half-hearted filler, his lyrics were simply too harsh for radio, and his uncompromising devotion to producer Mike Dean led to a stagnant, albeit trademark, sound.
The album made it evident who the group's most talented member was, and the acclaim showered on Scarface resulted in bitter tensions among his fellow Geto Boys, Bushwick Bill and Willie D. By the time Scarface returned with a follow-up solo album in 1993, The Diary, his reputation overshadowed that of his group's.
In the meantime, Scarface continued to funnel his efforts into additional solo efforts such as The World Is Yours (1995) and Untouchable (1997).
