SM3 alum Faris, like Sheen, falls victim to some unfunny dialogue and her character Cindy is too over-the-top stupid; she irritatingly delivers practically every line as if she was asking a question.
Hall, who had some of the most brilliant, laugh-out-loud moments in the original Scary Movie, is completely wasted--her hilarious character Brenda is killed off early on and reappearances of her lifeless corpse are all you see the rest of the movie.

After a nasty derailment in Scary Movie 2, the creators are coming back on track, but there's still a way to go before they find their footing again.
Scary Movie 3 tries to parody three movies at once, and as a result it spends too much time in exposition and not enough setting up the gags.
Scary Movie 4 (yes, they're doing another one) is reportedly going to be a parody of superhero movies.

The Wayans' (Keenan Ivory, Sean, and Marlon) were the driving forces behind Scary Movie and Scary Movie 2, and brought along their highly crude and anarchic sense of humor while infusing a hip sensibility to the entire proceeding.
Scary Movie 3 is also different in that it opted for the lesser PG-13 rating.
The first two movies went about their toilet humor with a sense of unbridled glee, a passion missing from this sequel.

Scary Movie 3 is less a parody of horror films in general, and more a parody of 2002's blockbuster hits.
Scary Movie 3 stays clean to keep it in the PG-13 realm of The Ring and Signs, although I don't think this was worthwhile considering how little movie ratings mean nowadays.
Scary Movie 3 is a spoof and not a satire, so it's unfair to criticize it for a lack of wit.

Seeing the second and the third movie in the Scary Movie series short after each other, gave me the perfect opportunity to see what the change of director can do to a movie.
All they did was badly repeating what had worked in the first movie and that is something that should be avoided at all time.
You'll find Michael Jackson and references to the sex tape with Pamela Anderson in it as well, but the main difference with "Scary Movie 2" is that this time it all has been written into one solid and hilarious story.

But, if you are like the millions of moviegoers who flocked to cinemas in 2000 and 2001 to see the first two 'Scary' movies installments, you will certainly tap into this third outing of the laugh out loud comedy series.
"Scary Movie 3" is being released just one week shy of Halloween and should do well since last week's big opener "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" proved that audiences were in the mood for a little gore, and this will be a welcome addition, not gory, but still be within the sphere of that 'scary' genre.
With Matrix hitting theaters in two weeks, this 'Scary' movie should be around for at least a couple of weeks.

“SM3” is the first of the franchise without the Wayans brothers, Shawn and Marlon, who didn't exactly set the bar at stratospheric levels in the first two.
But the movie relies on chestnuts like white people using fl dialect, which was done so shockingly well by Barbara Billingsley in “Airplane!” 23 years ago.

Scary Movie gives a well-deserved skewering of the teen slasher flicks that began with Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer.
However, the plot and characters of Scary Movie resembles mainly that of Scream, complete with a similar group of friends and a white-masked, fl-robed serial killer.
Scary Movie also undoubtedly pushes the boundary of the R rating, with some of the most low-brow humor present this side of a Farrelly brothers movie.

 Scary Movie 3 (2003)
In what would be a parody of countless Hollywood success stories, such as Signs, The Matrix, The Ring and The Others, Scary Movie 3 is the story of a young reporter (Anna Farris) who sets out to uncover the meaning of a video tape certain to cause death to all those who watch it.
Scary Movie 3 followed in the format of its two predecessors, but where the former managed to form a coherent story as they sewed pieces from many films together making an original comedic spoof, this third installment seemed to make much less effort as its plot lacked any hint of cleverness.
The movie, which was 90 minutes long, fails to raise more than a few smiles as the cast wades through the muck of predictable slapstick, jokes and spoof material.

"Scary Movie 3" is too uneven to match those comedy classics, but Zucker and screenwriters Craig Mazin and Pat Proft throw a ton of gags at the joke wall and enough of it sticks to get you through the material that falls flat.

What disturbs most about Scary Movie 3, tedium aside, is the belief that good roles are just waiting for Jenny McCarthy and Pamela Anderson, that comedy is easy, and that satire is the same thing as hatred.
Movies that hate movies are a curious thing, self-abnegating creatures involved in the process of whittling away at their own reason for existence to the point where the audience is forced to agree that there is, in fact, no point to the whole mess.

Instead, the movie marks a return to an earlier era of kitchen-sink comedy: the director is David Zucker ("Airplane!," "The Naked Gun"), and Pat Proft, his longtime collaborator, is one of the many writers credited on the project.
I think that the movie would have been a lot better had it kept its original focus and not digressed into a parody of "8 Mile", as it diluted the premise of the film.
