The scenic designer oversees construction, supervises all painting of flats, platforms, and furniture pieces, and may often design properties.
At the discretion of the designer, he/she may be requested to draft blueprints, do layouts, supervise crews, and oversee the painting of the set(s).
He/she handles all paperwork generated by the lighting designer, oversees and advises the lighting crew in light hang and focus, attends all technical rehearsals and performances, and supervises and contributes to light strike.

Scenic designers have traditionally come from a variety of artistic backgrounds, but nowadays, generally speaking, they are trained professionals, often with M.F.A. degrees in scenic design.

The arrangement of the space is a slightly skewed interpretation of a Greek theatre space, seemed to fit the action, and the original plan altered very little during the design process.
