	Schandmaul
		A lot of buzz had been going around about the band Schandmaul in the press area and in some other circles and so our interest was peaked and we were looking to know more.
		Schandmaul was to us a brand new band that incorporated lots of elements of some of our favorite groups such as Subway to Sally (female violinist as well as incorporation of bag pipes, flutes, and other traditional instruments) and incorporating electric guitar and modern rock sensibility to the song structure.
		Until we made it over to Germany this type of band was pretty much unknown to us but now that we have come several years in a row, we begin to see an entire sub-genre that seems to be growing in number of bands every year.

		German "folk rock/metal" act SCHANDMAUL have announced that Matthias "Hiasl" Richter, who joined the band as a temporary replacement after the departure of original bassist Hubsi Widmann, is now a permanent member of the band.
		SCHANDMAUL have set a June 23 release date for their new live DVD/CD, titled "Hexenkessel".
		The DVD will contain a complete gig that took place in Munich, Germany earlier this year (Jan. 4) and will feature one unreleased song as well as a guest appearance by IN EXTREMO vocalist Micha on the track "Willst Du".

		In our subject now, SCHANDMAUL are twisted in the fairy folk rock and in order to become more specific search for memories from the monumental creation of Nolan-Wakeman called "Jabberwocky" then add a lot of SKYCLAD doses (of their acoustic period) while sprinkling the mix with SUBWAY TO SALLY influences.
		In SCHANDMAUL I found ADARO’s lost glory, even if the latter were showing their inclination towards medieval, lost throughout the centuries compositions, in contrary with SCHANDMAUL who trust their own powers while influenced from known German folk-medieval-pagan (and so on) bands.
		If you have to choose only one album, then a very good idea for a first meeting with SCHANDMAUL would be "Hexenkessel", where you can find songs from their whole discography in live versions plus you will have the visual experience of their live shows through the quite filling DVD.

		This live interview with Thomas and Anna from the German folk metal band Schandmaul was done by Melanie Schuh and Matthias Altenhöfer at the Summer Breeze festival in Germany on August 21st, 2004.
		One of the more interesting bands at the moment is the folk metal act Schandmaul.
		Anna: We are six musicians coming from six different styles, amongst them classic, german rock, medieval, hip-hop....and all that is blended - you really can't find a precise definition for that style.

		Hubsi's last concert with the group took place at the band's official album release party in Munich last weekend.
		SCHANDMAUL's third album, Narrenkönig, features a sound that has been described as being somewhere between IN EXTREMO, SUBWAY TO SALLY and latter-day SKYCLAD.
