Based on testing of the OpenSolaris project and Schillix, we can report that while there's much work to be done before we'll begin seeing OpenSolaris-based distributions that can stand on equal footing with Solaris or with mainstream Linux flavors, the project is off to a very promising start.
Schillix doesn't yet ship with any sort of GUI, but we were able to reach the network and compile software on our test system.
After taking the additional step of installing Schillix to our machine's hard drive, we were keen to try out some of Solaris' flashier new features on Schillix.

Schrock said developers should not equate either of the existing OpenSolaris derivatives with the OpenSolaris code, and that conversation between all versions and about any aspect of OpenSolaris should be encouraged.
A Sun developer, Eric Boutilier, said he strongly felt most people interested in OpenSolaris should be directed to Sun's Solaris Express distribution, as they would want a free and full-featured system with desktop environments like GNOME and KDE.
SchilliX is currently unable to provide such functionality.

Anyway, I eventually thought it might be better to just build Xorg manually, but then I remembered dependencies and that I'd have to root eveything under a different hierarchy to be sure it was self contained for the switch from Solaris Express to SchilliX.
When compiled with GCC, however, libc_wrapper.o used sin and cos, so I managed to work around this problem, but I still don't know why it was happening.
I'm leaning toward this being a pkgsrc problem because a simple C program that calls sin or cos compiles correctly.
