Schism was a late 80's hardcore record label/fanzine operated out of New York City by John Porcelly (Youth Of Today/Judge/Project X) and Alex Brown (Side By Side/Project X).
The record was only pressed once in an amount of 500 copies (although several bootlegs have been made throughout the years), and is a huge hardcore collector's item.
Schism was also well-known for the merchandise they made for their bands, usually featuring the classic Schism-logo with a drawing of several X'ed fists (which was also part of issue #7's cover art) on the left chest and artwork from the bands on the back.

Until I started the Schism book project, I had never seen a copy of six - or knew anyone who had - had seen but never read issue seven and happened to come across a copy of issue eight at a show that some kid was selling photocopies of for a buck.
The content of fanzines like Schism is interesting because the interviews and editorials have a ton of personality, and it gives a dimension to the bands that is not seen by just listening to the recordings.

It is beyond question that John Paul II is the legitimate successor of Peter and was not acting under duress when Archbishop Lefebvre manifestly violated the Holy Father’s express, personal command by ordaining four bishops without the required mandate of the Holy See in 1988.
Whether the act constituted schism in the strict sense of the word does not change this, nor do the differing opinions proffered by learned canonists.
The records of the case show that the former Bishop of Honolulu, Most Rev. Joseph Ferrario, tried to use penal law to silence those six Catholics who were calling the attention of the public to what they perceived as the bishop’s follies and misdeeds.
