A schismatic is a person who creates or incites schism in an organization or who is a member of a splinter group.
Schismatic as an adjective means pertaining to a schism or schisms, or to those ideas, policies, etc. that are thought to lead towards or promote schism.
We breed for temperament, size, drive, of the breed, but we also breed for respect, pride, courage, and always have a great appreciation for what this breed is was, and how our predecessors have made this breed.

Equal temperament - Avoo - Ask Us A Question - An equal temperament is a musical temperament, or system of tuning, in ...   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-08)
A precise equal temperament was not attainable until Johann Heinrich Scheibler developed a tuning fork tonometer in 1834 to accurately measure pitches.
The use of this device was not widespread, and it was not until the early 20th century that a practical aural method of tuning the piano to equal temperament with precision was developed and disseminated.
It is in the environment of equal temperament that the new styles of symmetrical tonality and polytonality, atonal music such as that written with the twelve tone technique or serialism, and jazz (at least its piano component) developed and flourished.

Equal temperaments (abbreviated ET or tET) and equal divisions of the octave (abbreviated EDO) are similar concepts, although there are distinctions in the way these terms are used.
Meantone is a familar historical temperament based on a chain of fifths (or fourths), but it is only one of many possibilities for temperaments based on a chain of generating intervals.
Schismatic temperament reduces the size of the perfect fifth by a fraction of a schisma (the difference between a major third and a diminished fourth, 32805/32768).

Twelve tone equal temperament (12-TET) is the standard and most usual tuning system used in Western music today because it gives the advantage of modulation to any key without dramatically going out of tune, as all keys are equally and slightly out of tune.

 Equal temperament
Equal temperament is a scheme of musical tuning in which the octave is divided into a series of equal steps (equal frequency ratios).
Twelve tone equal temperament was introduced in the West to permit the playing of music in all keys with an equal amount of mis-tuning in each, without having to provide more than 12 pitches per octave on instruments, while still roughly approximating just intonation intervals.
At the time equal temperament was beginning to take hold in the West, many people perceived the much-increased mis-tuning of the music, relative to meantone temperament, as a disgrace.

According to his judgment, the Chinese Catholic Patriots are schismatic, heretic, and apostate, but they are also treacherous in design, scandalous in morals, and merciless in cheating and misleading the faithful and the world.
On account of this, please observe, objectively considered each schismatic is a form of "Anti-Christ." He is a false Christ replacing the true one, and vice versa, he would not allow the true Christ to come to live and work in him.
Schismatic Anti-Christ is a "Monster-Christ." because he indulges himself in self-splitting in chain reaction endlessly, spiritually, culturally and liturgically.

MTO 4.4: Scholtz, Algorithms for Tunings and Temperaments
The algorithms that map the tunings and temperaments into one another are not purely mathematical, but are derived from the harmonic structure of the chain of fifths and enharmonic relationships between notes.
A scale obtained by the first procedure is schismatic equal temperament and a scale obtained by the second procedure is syntonic equal temperament.
The five schismatic notes tuned to the right of Abb+k are enharmonically equivalent to the notes normally located to the right of G, while the five schismatic notes tuned to the left of E#-k are enharmonically equivalent to the notes normally located to the left of F. The steps of the algorithm are as follows.

An equal temperament is a musical temperament, or system of tuning, in which an interval, usually the octave, is divided into a series of equal steps (equal frequency ratios).
In an equal temperament, the distance between each step of the scale is the same interval.
In twelve-tone equal temperament, which divides the octave into 12 equal parts, the ratio of frequencies between two adjacent semitones is the twelfth root of two:

 Donatism
That the African schismatics might have no ground of complaint, he ordered three of the chief bishops of Gaul, Reticius of Autun, Maternus of Cologne, and Marinus of Arles, to repair to Rome, to assist at the trial.
But the Donatists of Saint Augustine's time were anxious to deny this, as they did not wish to admit that their protagonist had been condemned, and the Catholics at the conference of 411 granted them the existence of a Donatus, Bishop of Casae Nigrae, who had distinguished himself by active hostility to Caecilian.
Maximian's church was razed to the ground, and after the term of grace had elapsed, the Donatists persecuted the unfortunate Maximianists, representing themselves as Catholics, and demanding that the magistrates should enforce against the new sectaries the very laws which Catholics emperors had drawn up against Donatism.

Mythical Records - 53 note equal temperment
In music, 53 equal temperament, called 53-tet, 53-edo, or 53-et, is the scale derived by dividing the octave into fifty-three equally large steps.
This is due to one of the most salient features of this temperament, which is that the fifths are very nearly the pure 3/2 ratio of just intonation, being a mere 0.07 cents flat.
An interesting side not of this temperment is that standard musical notation can be used to denote 53 equal temperament; however, since it is a Pythagorean system, with nearly pure fifths, major and minor triads cannot be spelled in the same manner as in a meantone tuning.

For example, Easley Blackwood's notation for 15 tone equal temperament includes the implicit rule that E and F sound identical pitches, as do B and C. This brings out the essential pentatonic structure buried within the 15 tone equal temperament, although it could prove confusing for someone unfamiliar with the notation.
One of the greatest problems faced by the structuralists is that many tunings exist for which no modification of standard 12-tone notation is sufficient to adequately bring out the deep structure of the tuning.
Intervals much smaller than the semitone, as well as exotic scales in which higher members of the harmonic series are exactly represented, demand that traditional 12-tone equal tempered notation be thrown out (according to this group).

At this point choosing a particular tuning is a separate question which does not involve what the temperament *is*, namely 11-limit marvel.

 Just intonation
His tuning system was in fact schismatic temperament, which is indeed capable of far closer approximations to just intonation consonances than 12-note equal temperament or even meantone temperament, but still alters the pure ratios of just intonation slightly in order to achieve a simpler and more flexible system than true just intonation.
Wendy Carlos used a system on her 1986 album Beauty in the Beast, where one electronic keyboard was used to play the notes, and another used to instantly set the root note to which all intervals were tuned, which allowed for modulation.
12-note equal temperament does quite a bit more damage to the consonances than meantone temperament; today, many musicians, after exposure to tunings with purer harmonies, refuse to return to 12-note equal temperament due to its noticeably less-pure consonances.

Schismatic temperament - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Meantone tunings are often described in terms of what fraction of a syntonic comma the fifth has been flattened by; in the same way schismatic tunings can be described in terms of what fraction of a schisma the fifth is flattened--or even sharpened--by.
An advantage of meantone over schismatic tunings is that in meantone, the interval ratios of 5:4 and 6:5 are represented by the major third and minor third, respectively; in schismatic tunings, they're represented by the diminished fourth and augmented second (if spelled according to their construction in the tuning).
However, the result suffers from the same difficulties as just intonation -- for example, the wolf B-Gb here arises all too easily when availing oneself of the concordant schismatic substitutions just outlined -- so it is not surprising that meantone temperament became the dominant tuning system by the early Renaissance.

So essentially there are two different kinds of scales that fit the same temperament map; the one with a better JI approximation has a different scale structure from the pure octave-based one.
The prejudice against complex temperaments is obvious on this group, but it all comes from people who never actually *use* them.
That's all you need to know about the period to know whether the temperament is twin or triple etc. For the rest of it, lets look at the simplest case first -- an LT with one period to the octave, and one generator to some prime.

It seemed reasonable that an equal temperament could be "fuzzified" so that it covered one-third of frequency space, while two-thirds remained out-of-tune with respect to the equal temperament.
It should read: If none of the notes of the chord are interpreted as a power of two, the chord seems unstable, while if the root is present and is the lowest pitch in the particular voicing of the chord, the chord seems quite stable, as the sensation of the fundamental is quite secure.
Otherwise, the diatonic thirds are purer than the schismatic thirds, and the tuning is better characterized as a meantone temperament, quantified by the fraction of a (syntonic) comma by which the fifth is tempered.
