Schoharie is a hilly county; its ridges seeming to be part of the Catskills, reaching a height of 2,000 feet in certain localities, the land being higher to the west.
The sequence of Schoharie's organization was: the Province lying north of Ulster county which was Albany; in 1772 a part of this was set off as Tyron County, afterwards Montgomery; in 1791 Otsego was taken from this; and in 1795 Schoharie erected from Otsego and Albany.
The villages of Broome are: Franklinton, Livingstonville and Bates.

As previously stated, none of the town and village justices in Schoharie County are in office, having vacated it ipso facto by failing to file their bond and oath with the county clerk.
Therefore, I regretfully inform you that immediate vacancies exist in every town and village court in your county, in the office of sheriff and in the office of the county/surrogate and family court judge, ipso facto, for their failure to comply with the provisions of the Consolidated Laws of New York and the NYS Constitution.

In my travels of the Schoharie County area, I have found Peck road in Jefferson and Warner Hill Road in Schoharie to be among the most beautiful in the area.
With the change in weather in the Schoharie Valley, quite a few mornings are blessed with a fog and mist that burns off by 10am in a manner similar to that seen in the California area.

The Pethick Site is a newly discovered village and campsite located on a terrace overlooking Schoharie Creek, a major tributary of the Mohawk River.
The occupants of the Schoharie Valley at that time are generally believed to have been the ancestors to modern Iroquois cultures, including the Mohawk.
If true, this would be a very rare occupation, dating to one of the earliest periods of New York State prehistory, just following the end of the last Ice Age.
