Landscape architecture is the art, planning, design, management, preservation and rehabilitation of the land and the design of man-made constructs.
Landscape architects are considered professionals on par with architects and engineers, because they are often required to obtain specialized education and professional licensure, similar to the requirements for those other professional occupations.
Activities of a landscape architect can range from the creation of public parks and parkways to the site planning for corporate office buildings, from the design of residential estates to the design of civil infastructure and the management of large wilderness areas or reclamation of degraded landscapes such as mines or landfills.

The purpose of the APSLA was "to further education and improve technical training in landscape architecture." Membe rship, dues, officers, amendments, and meetings were clarified and the meetings were arranged to either precede or follow ASLA meetings.
The Landscape Journal was first published by the Wisconsin Press in the Spr ing of 1982 with financial support from CELA The Council has continued to support the Journal which in 1987 secured its first grant from the NEA through the efforts of Professor Anne Spirn, University of Pennsylvania.
The Landscape Journ al is published twice yearly by the University of Wisconsin Press and Robert B. Riley, University of Illinois is the Editor.

Architecture, in its most pure and elemental form, is about truly beautiful and thought provoking design, not economy or ease in construction.
These top ranked schools have a large number of students wanting in, so they are less concerned if a student struggles in one area of their studies or has a serious family event disrupt a student’s progress.
Since the schools I'm looking at tend to be the same schools that have architecture and design programs, you probably have some good information about the schools I'm interested in.

The Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB) accreditation process evaluates each program on the basis of its stated objectives and compliance to externally mandated minimum standards.
The Board of Trustees of the American Society of Landscape Architects recognizes the quality of educational programs leading to first professional degrees in landscape architecture at the bachelor’s and master’s level accredited by the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects Accreditation Council.
It regards the criteria for accreditation and many of the individual program guidelines to be comparable to those employed by the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board of ASLA.
