Scientific American: Schroedinger's Cation   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-05)
Schroedinger devised the cat experiment to illustrate just how radically the quantum realm differs from the macroscopic, everyday world that we inhabit.
Schroedinger reasoned that such probabilistic behavior could exist in the macroscopic world as well, even if we are rarely aware of it.
During the 1980s, the late theorist John Bell suggested a more palatable version of Schroedinger's experiment, one in which the decay of the atom causes a bottle of milk to spill onto the floor; the superposed cat is thus hungry or full rather than alive or dead.

shroedi.htm: How to search the web, by fravia+ The Schroedinger search   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-05)
The very moment we start one of these labs, of course, a lot of people are going to begin searching around for the same (or analoguous) subjects.
Such a peculiar state of affairs would be a modest example of a Schroedinger cat.
While the Schroedinger Cat examples are used in Quantum phisic when considering the possibility that something could be made to be both dead and alive at the same time, what I am referring to here, is the fact that by interacting with the web you "move" the parameters of your very search.

Eventually, Schroedinger the Younger stumbled across the lab, experiments, and notes of Schroedinger the Elder.

Just as Young Doctor Schroedinger sealed Lozenge into the tube (with flask, of course), he heard pounding pouding on the giant massive oak doors of his imposing residence.

Schroedinger's Cat   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-05)
On June 7 of 1935, Erwin Schroedinger wrote to Albert Einstein to congratulate him on what is now known as the EPR paper, a famous problem in the interpretation of Quantum Mechanics.
Before the observer opens the box, the cat's fate is tied to the wave function of the atom, which is itself in a superposition of decayed and undecayed states.
Thus, said Schroedinger, the cat must itself be in a superposition of dead and alive states before the observer opens the box, ``observes'' the cat, and ``collapses'' it's wave function.

Schroedinger_Note   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-05)
The physicists of Copenhagen did not like Schroedinger's idea; when Schroedinger visited Copenhagen, Bohr kept arguing with him several days, even at Schroedinger's bedside when the latter got ill by catching a cold.
Later, in 1935, he presented sharply a basic problem for interpreting quantum mechanics, in terms of "Schroedinger's Cat".
The indeterminacy of a micro-state can be amplified by inserting an appropriate physical device, so that we can obtain a "mixed state" so to speak of "live or dead" of a poor cat confined to a box; but of course, when we see the cat, it is either alive or dead.

For example, failure to identify the "Darwin term" as the s-state spin-orbit energy in conventional treatments of the hydrogen atom is traced to a failure to distinguish between charge and momentum flow in the theory.
Consistency with the Dirac theory is shown to imply that the Schroedinger equation describes not a spinless particle as universally assumed, but a particle in a spin eigenstate.
Abstract: A rigorous derivation of the Schroedinger theory from the Pauli (or Dirac) theory implies that the Schroedinger equation describes an electron in an eigenstate of spin.

Photonic Schroedinger cat breaks record (January 2007) - News - PhysicsWeb
Physicists in China, Austria and Germany claim to have created the largest ever photonic "Schroedinger cat", a popularized term given to entangled particles that are in a superposition of two quantum states.
Both of these break records for the number of photons entangled in such a manner: the cat state was previously five photons, and the cluster state was previously four.
These two states, according to Lu and colleagues, were analogous to the "dead" and "alive" states of Schroedinger's cat – a legendary paradox thought up by Erwin Schroedinger to highlight the absurdity of quantum mechanics.

The Schroedinger equation for this type of potential must be solved numerically, as no substitutions or other method has yet been devised that can solve this type of differential equation to yield a formulaic solution for En.
The program 'EfinderProof' uses a potential in the Schroedinger equation that can be solved to yield a formulaic solution for En and so compares the values of eigen energies found using this program to the actual values as a means to prove the validity of this program and demonstrate the programs accuracy;
