 SciTE - Scintilla Text Editor
Scintilla Text Editor (SciTE) is a very nice small-footprint source code editor based on the Scintilla text editor widget.
SciTE and Scintilla itself are made by Neil Hodgson .
Also related to monospaced fonts, a change in core SciTE 1.67 had a side effect that caused the monospaced option to reset itself whenever a new buffer is initialized.

 SciTE for Scripting
SciTE does NOT cater to scripters; it DOES give you easy access to customize everything, which is even better.
SciTE is not a "perfect" tool, of course; its commitment to creating a cross-platform core and the limited time of developers who are providing a tool that costs nothing to start using means that there are some things you simply don't have without extra effort of your own.
For example, context menuing in vanilla SciTE is very basic, providing only standard cut-copy-paste-select (but including undo/redo); the multi-document interface depends on tabbing, since only one document is displayed at a time.

Exporters in Lua for SciTE -- khman
SciTE's Lua extension (present in SciTE 1.60 and later) that more or less duplicates the functionality of the standard set of SciTE file exporters.
These scripts were adapted from C++ code in SciTE (in src/Exporters.cxx), originally in support of a project to develop a feature-ful PDF exporter for SciTE.
SciTE is principally developed by Neil Hodgson, with the help of many contributors, and can be found at: http://scintilla.sourceforge.net/SciTE.html.

SciTE's initial configuration only allows one file to be in memory at once but this can be modified by changing the value of the buffers property.
SciTE understands both the file name and line number parts of error messages in most cases so can open another file (such as a header file) if errors were caused by that file.
SciTE supports folding for many languages (see the list of languages understood by SciTE for more information.) Fold points are based upon indentation for Python and on counting braces for the other languages.

Syntax highlighting source code in Word and PowerPoint with SciTE | fauskes.net
I did some research and found out that what I needed was a decent text editor that could export source code as colored HTML or RTF, that can be imported into PowerPoint and Word.
To my pleasant surprise I discovered that I could use the SciTE editor based on the same Scintilla lexers used to colorize source code on fauskes.net.
SciTE is available from the Scintilla download page.

SciTE Flash also integrates with Flash MX (via Flush, by Robin Debreuil) so that you can compile your scripts directly from the app.

SciTE 1.67-wbd-1 was posted as a pre-release last week.
In the SciTE 1.67, the Monospaced option is reset to proportional whenever a new buffer is created.
However, this also restored an inconsistency that was present in earlier versions of SciTE: if multiple buffers were opened, some monospaced and some not, then the user would get a different Monospaced setting for the new buffer, depending which buffer was active when they did it.

Flashmagazine - SciTE-Flash for AS2?   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
If you do programming in Flash, you have probably found that the internal script-editing isn't exactly the best there is. MX04 has not improved script editing that much either and it's lack of features such as code-collapsing is sad (considering that HomeSite had this).
The program is based on the SciTE project and through this, it also has support for PHP, JavaScript, Perl, CSS, XML and more.
If you use SciTE Flash professionally, visit Ale's site and donate a small amount to support his efforts and maybe he can afford to put in the hours needed for AS2 support.
