		Fantasy (of which Science Fiction is a sub-genre) is belittled by supporters of "the main stream," both in literature and in film.
		Science Fiction is a much larger genre than Film Noir or Swashbucklers, overlapping almost all other genres (there are SF mysteries, SF Swashbucklers, SF Film Noir, SF Westerns, SF war films, SF comedies, and SF romances, to name a few).
		Comparing this list with the ones I made for Film Noir and Swashbucklers points an important difference between Science Fiction film and those genres: the golden ages of those two genres are past while SF is still doing fine.

		And Kirsten Dunst performs well within the film despite her appearance that protrudes a sense of innocence that feels off-base or awkward that distracts from the actions of her character.
		Not to say that she doesn't perform well or that the character is a pointless one, not in the least, but perhaps it is the fact that her innocence, based on her name and the characters she has played, carries a stigma with her role.

		One story in Crowned Heads inspired the little-seen film Fedora, doomed because director Billy Wilder could not bring the proper ambience of horror to the story of a young woman forced to spend her life pretending to be her own mother, while her mother in turn pretends to be an elderly friend.
		Tryon's final years cannot have been happy ones: the man reputed to be his longtime companion died of AIDS in 1987, and while the official cause of Tryon's death in 1991 was cancer, one cannot help suspecting that he had also been ravaged by the disease that killed his friend.

		That's 103 years of science fiction film in 325 pages, including the index (lovingly indexed, I'll note, by the super-competent and generally awesome Susan Marie Groppi).
		All three Terminator films are extensively essayed; indeed, in the case where you see a film that's part of a series or has a notable remake, you can assume the other films get examined as well.
