One of the principal activities of the ASA is the Annual Scientific Meeting, held in July each year to bring together astronomers from around Australia.
The meeting includes the Annual General Meeting of the Society and the public Harley Wood Lecture.
The 2006 Annual Scientific Meeting and General Meeting (ASA2006) is being hosted by the School of Physical, Environmental & Mathematical Sciences of the University of New South Wales at the Australian Defence Force Academy (UNSW@ADFA), and will be held at UNSW@ADFA from the evening of Sunday July 2 to midday on Thursday July 6 2006.

 APHA Annual Meeting Scientific Sessions
Scientific and educational programs are developed by the APHA Program Planning Committee with representatives from all 24 APHA Sections, 7 Special Primary Interest Groups [SPIGs], 17 Caucuses and the new Student Assembly.
By attending the APHA Annual Meeting, attendees acknowledge these activities and agree to allow their image to be used by APHA in Association publications, on APHA’s web site, and in marketing and promotional materials.
Participants found disrupting any part of the APHA Annual Meeting (including General Sessions, Special Sessions and Scientific Sessions), conducting themselves in a manner unbecoming a public health professional, or violating these policies will be asked to leave the session or facility and may be prohibited from further Annual Meeting attendance.

The purpose of the meeting is to identify scientific priorities for the first phase of stem cell research funded under Proposition 71.
The meeting, which will be held at the Renaissance Parc 55 Hotel in San Francisco, will feature six scientific sessions with presentations by stem cell researchers and clinicians from the United States as well as Australia, Canada, Israel, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
To facilitate scientific discussions, the meeting will be limited to 200 attendees including scientists from academia and private industry, patient advocates and the public.

 Preview of the American Association for Cancer Research 94th Annual Meeting - Thomson Scientific
The meeting was originally to take place in Toronto in April 2003, however, due to the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) outbreak it was decided to postpone proceedings in an effort to minimize the risk of spreading SARS, especially for those whose immune system is already compromised from their fight with cancer.
This meeting provides an excellent opportunity for attendees to learn from each other, exchange ideas and, in keeping with AACR tradition, acknowledge the outstanding accomplishments and contributions of their peers in the field of cancer research through the presentation of various scientific awards and lectureships.
Several sessions at this year's meeting will focus on the current trends and challenges in vaccine research, including the identification of new target antigens, a new generation of DNA vaccines, dendritic cell approaches and the use of peptides and proteins for designing vaccines.

The Society's ninth annual scientific meeting was held on Friday 28th January 2000 in the Cottrell building at Stirling university.
The Society organised a multi-disciplinary meeting on 8th November to discuss implementation of the report and this was well supported with representation from all parts of Scotland.
This meeting was chaired by Cameron Howie in the absence of Peter Wallace who was detained elsewhere, and we were addressed by a number of persuasive speakers who had clearly had a pretty hard time last winter.
